How did Hey There Delilah get put in a greatest rock song list? And what is the deal with Boston?

If hey there delilah gets significant votes, I will ass rape and murder everyone on this board's pets.

I could randomly select any song off my iTunes and it would be better than these.

If your parents were concerned about the way that Elvis guy used to shake his hips, they might not like this one. BTW, this song is not about converting to homosexuality, it's about something else.

Hey rainman - I may recruit your help on an idea.

I'm thinking a Rock and Roll fantasy draft would be pretty badass.

Essentially we try to round up 10-20 guys and we let them 'draft' a 6 person band. You have to draft a lead singer, a lead guitar, a rythm guitar, a bass guitar and a drummer. Then you can carry a 'bench' player like a keyboardist or something.

After the bands are assembled, we could have a 'best band' poll and open it to the board, but you wouldn't be allowed to vote for your own group.

Your picks could be out there a little bit. If you want Satriani to be your lead guitar player, even though I don't recall him being lead guitar for a band, you could do that. There's no multi-position eligibility either (i.e. no McCartney on Vocals and Guitar). Though if McCartney's drafted on vocals for one team, he remains available for guitar to another.

Thoughts? Suggestions? If we could get the right participants, I think it'd be pretty badass. We have some very knowledgeable music folks on the board.

Glad to help, DJ, though I admit that I know nothing about bands. I'll be tied up on the Rock N Poll for the next month, but have some time open on my Chiefsplanet schedule after that.

I went with Helter Skelter just for the opening even though it gets worse with every passing minute, Racing in the Street, because it's another great song by the greatest musical artist in American history, and after hiding my pets, Hey There, Delilah. I recognize that Delilah probably isn't rock, but I like it and it won't win anyway so I'm casting my vote for it.

I voted for Refused, Iron Maiden, and Boston. There were 3 others that could have gotten my vote this round (King Crimson, Springsteen, and the Beatles).

Clapton, Boston, Maiden.

An unspectacular group, but that's one of Boston's best songs (IMO) and both Clapton and Maiden need to remain represented.

I just don't like Helter Sketler. A lot of folks do, but I'm putting in my protest vote anyway. The song's just not very good - another example of a band making a song rather than the song making the band. If The Kinks make that song, nobody remembers it.

You're really good at this.

I was torn between Boston and the Beatles as my third, but I'm not a huge fan of that particular Boston song. I'm sad that Rock and Roll band won't make the next round, because it's my favorite Boston song.

Here's Springsteen's Racing in the Streets. It's a slow but powerful song about a guy who races cars informally while his dreams for the rest of his life slip away.

This is Iron Maiden's only entry in the contest too, so if they fall out now, they're done. There are a dozen or two more Bob Dylan tracks ahead though if it's any consolation.

Yeah, if Iron Maiden doesn't make it, H5N1 can easily switch his allegiance to Bob Dylan. Plenty of chances to support Bob.

A tie is not a loss. As such, if the poll ends now, Maiden advances.
