I'm getting ready for trial and the avi surveillance video (which I need to show in court) isn't loading on my laptop. It's generating the below error. I've got TVersity and PS3 Media Server installed..... not sure if they're conflicting. Tried QuickTime, WMP, Divx, and WinDVD, with no success.

Any assistance you can provide is greatly appreciated!

AppName: divx plus player.exe AppVer: 10.2.1.20 ModName: quartz.dll
ModVer: 6.5.2600.3665 Offset: 0001724d

Already tried VLC. It runs, but there's no audio or video, just the orange cone on the screen.

If vlc won't play it I'd wager the file is corrupted. Has it ever played?

Already tried it on another computer.... it plays on WinDVD but not WMP.

Wow. Does every player pop up that same error, or are they all different?

Same error from WinDVD.

AppName: windvd.exe AppVer: 5.0.11.289 ModName: quartz.dll
ModVer: 6.5.2600.3665 Offset: 0001724d

quartz.dll is part of DirectShow, maybe that was replaced with an older version by one of the players or codec sets you installed?

that offset is a problem with the audio track, i think.

i would try updating my codecs

Prosecutor, no. I'm not inclined to incarcerate the working (or idle) poor for BS reasons.

Try getting the combined community codec pack (here (http://www.cccp-project.net/)) and using Media Player Classic.

If that doesn't work, download MediaInfo (here (http://mediainfo.sourceforge.net/en)) and tell us what it says. I do know that some DVR footage has a proprietary player (Infinova is guilty of this) and can't be played by anything else.

CCCP and MPC solved the problem.

Thanks a million!

Have you tried installing the K-lite codec pack? Works with pretty much everything.
