If Funk #49 doesn't advance this whole project is hopeless.

Leaning on the Lamppost is a great song about a stalker. Y'all should give it a listen.

Lots of good options here. I went with I Love Rock and Roll, American Pie, and Leaning on the Lamppost. I also could easily have voted for Stairway to Heaven but I figured it didn't need any help, or Sgt. Pepper. Great songs all of them.

"American Pie" and "Sergeant Pepper" are both incredible songs, but I don't view them as rock songs. I think of them as Top 40.

I'm surprised "Funk #49" isn't doing better than it is. I wonder if people don't recognize it by its title.

I hate to question the undisputed king of CP poll threads, but is there ever going to be a "Round 2" or are we looking at triple digit heats for this bad boy?

As far as I'm concerned, Stairway to Heaven is a no-brainer for top 5.

Similar thinking here. I voted Joan Jett, Don McLean, and James Gang even though Stairway to Heaven would have probably gotten one of my 3 if I thought it needed it. Strong heat.

It's not so much the song itself, it's something that I associate with it. But I was never crazy about the song to begin with.

When I looked for American Pie on youtube, this link came up. It's a very interesting interpretation of American Pie, to say the least. It appears that there's more interpretation elsewhere on the site, but it's hard to find, for reasons that will become apparent.

Interesting. I thought it was about Dylan and the Stones ruining the rock and roll that Elvis, Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, etc. had created.

This just goes to show that you can build a bigger audience with a few rhymes and a catchy tune than you can by calling everyone traitorous subhuman bible-thumping zionists.

I could not agree more, Mr. Nzoner. It's an all-time classic and, back in those days, they didn't even keep tackle stats.

It's really a shame that the Klingons never had a band. I'm not even sure if they play music of any sort. Maybe they do. Or maybe they just gargle Romulan blood while yodeling and call it art.

Come to think of it, Bruce Springsteen would make a damn fine Klingon.

I voted for it, but it's not even close to one of Walsh's best efforts.
