It's my kind of town, Chicago is...

At least I'm hopin' it will be. I'm taking my two boys, ages 15 and 10, this weekend (Fri thru Mon/Tues). Staying for 2 nights at a hotel near Grant Park/Navy Pier, then for a night or two out in the 'burbs where it's cheaper. We'll be going to the big Irish Parade in Grants Park Saturday, followed by the Navy Pier, then possibly seeing a theater show Sat night. Any suggestions are welcomed. Thanks!

Well, you could go hang out with Frazod and possibly see him shoot one of his appliances or burn his deck off of his condo.

The Shedd Aquarium. Your boys should like it.

The Shedd Aquarium. Your boys should like it.

And nearly any museum along Lake Shore. I like the Science Museum (Planetarium?).

Be sure to shoot Hootie a PM. He'll be happy to show you around and if you're lucky, he'll have some GHB handy.

Have fun!

I'll always treasure Chicago as the city where I had my first Chimay.

I'm sure someone will tell you that I'm a tourist douche, but I've never had a bad pie at Geno's East.

You misspelled Gino's East.

I think I ate there, too. Either has great stuffed pizza.

Yes they do. I just like Gino's a bit better.

I've also heard good things about Luminati's (sp?).

You're really gonna need 3 or 4 other threads to get a good feel for Chicago.

My tip is, don't drive if you can avoid it.

Giordano's

This.

Oh, and this:

It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses.

oh, and from someone who likes museums, the Field Museum is a waste of time.

Thanks, I'm running low on toilet paper. I hope you washed this one, though - the last one gave me a rash. :)

Thoughts on Chief Chief's visit:

1. Why the hell would you come here this time of year?

2. Gino's East has the best pizza. Giordano's is very good. Lou Malnati's is, IMO, shit. Unless you like your deep dish consisting of somebody dumping a can of stewed tomatoes into a crust and baking it.

3. Science and Industry is the best museum. The Shedd Aquarium rocks. The Field Museum is a boring waste of time.

4. If the weather's clear, you should check out the Willis (formerly Sears) Tower observation deck. I haven't been up there in years, but I understand the ledge thing is cool.

And finally, bite me, Bug. nlm

Spring break. This weekend's weather there won't be that bad (35-45 for highs; 30% chance of rain Saturday). Yeah, I'd rather go there in Apr/May and catch an afternoon game at Wrigley Field...but, like the Cubs, ya can't win 'em all.

He works in Bloomington, no? That's 3 hours away.

I know you're joking.

Anyways, Lakeshore Drive FTW as well as Shedd Aquarium.
