Who will be the next to move to Round 3? Got some strong contenders here across a variety of styles.

My rankings:

Fortunate Son, Creedence Clearwater Revival - 1st on the poll and first on my list. I like the energy of this song.

Paradise by the Dashboard Light, Meat Loaf - It's a little bit of a novelty act, but at the same time it's got a great sound and you feel good after you hear it. #2 vote.

We Will Rock You, Queen - It's simple rock, but it's real rock, and it's effective. Everyone in the world knows this song and can sing along with it. #3 vote, and could almost pass Dashboard for the #2 spot.

Carry On My Wayward Son, Kansas - I hate to not vote for this because it's a great song, but we're in rarified air now.

Rock Around the Clock, Bill Haley - Good classic song. I can't move it above the others. #5

Simple Man, Lynyrd Skynyrd - I like me some Skynyrd, but this isn't at the top of my list for them.

Thunderstruck, AC/DC - No bagpipes, no vote.

Knocking at Your Back Door, Deep Purple - Not something I'd listen to.

Fortunate Son & Simple Man. None of the others should advance.

I'd probably put most of these songs ahead of the other winners.

1. Rock Around The Clock - I have to pay homage to one of the songs that started it all.
2. Fortunate Son.
3. Paradise By The Dashboard Light.

CCR, Meatloaf, Kansas

This one was tough. I put CCR and Kansas down immediately and then had to think a bit about Queen, AC/DC and Skynyrd. In the end I picked Simple Man, which actually surprised me.

We will rock you - Iconic, had to vote for it at least this time
Rock around the clock - sometimes you have to recognize where this all came from

YOU BLEW IT!!!!!!!!!

I know. I know.

On the list of things that I'm embarrassed for people to know are from the state of Kansas, the band Kansas ranks just below Fred Phelps. :)

Fortunate Son -- sounds like napalm in the morning. (?)
Paradise by the Dashboard Light -- this is the closest i ever came to scoring.
Simple Man -- for the Seinfeld crowd, this would be my Desperado song if it was less set on making me cry. Oh, and a little less simple.

Fortunate Son has been destroying everything in its path in both heats so far. I feel good about that.

Rock Around the Clock - i respect rocks history, going with tradition here.

Simple Man - great music, great lyrics & i can play it all the way through, so that sealed it.

Fortunate Son - a true classic, with a message that really resonated with the times in which it was released.

I'd liked to have given one to AC/DC, but not Thunderstruck. They've got a lot better stuff than that.

Wow, this is a battle to the death.

History says we should get another 10 to 15 voters tonight, and it looks like the fate of several songs is in their hands.

It's like Whack-A-Mole. I think it's going to be luck of the draw when I close the poll tomorrow. What an epic battle we have going here.

In a sign of how tight these battles are, we have another tie for the final position. Moving on are:

Fortunate Son
Thunderstruck
Simple Man
Carry On My Wayward Son

Condolences to the fans of "We Will Rock You". However, it's got a good chance of sneaking in as a heat filler next round.

I know this song wasn't introduced in any of the nomination threads...

I'm just wandering how this song would rate with out judgement from who the band is. Yea you can compare it to the old GnR songs like November Rain or Don't Cry. This is from the newest group of ax men Guns N Roses Chinese Democracy. Hope you enjoy it as much as I. This I Love.

What you guys think? I think it is a an awesome song that showcases the range of Axl Roses vocals. With killer guitar from Bucket Head. Rain Man what say you?
