What a bunch of low life pieces of crap to call in and complain that these kids are selling some lemonade, which they are not making a profit on at 25 cents per cup. Plus the kids claim they give it to a good cause. Apparently less than 10 neighbors called to complain about this terrible lemonade stand ran by children to get it shut down and it probably will be shut down. This news clip would have been much better if the pieces of shit who complained actually had the balls to go in front of camera and provide their reasons of why this stand is bad for the neighborhood.

NORTH PALM BEACH, Fla. - Deep within the heart of a seemingly idyllic North Palm Beach, Florida neighborhood something sinister lurks. The sinister presence is a lemonade stand, and the vendors are children ages 5 through 10.

Their neighborhood Homeowners Association is unhappy with the business.

"We didn't know there was a problem, but we just received a problem, but we just received a letter a couple of weeks ago saying that they were trying to shut us down," said Debra Cohen.

"They didn't like it 'cause they don't have children like us," Jessica Cohen, one of the small business owners, said.

Prosperity Harbor Homeowners Association filed a complaint which says, "signs are prohibited, and business may not be conducted in their neighborhood."

"We got kind of upset, and we talked about whether we could still do it or not," Kayla Cohen said.

According to the vendors, HOA bylaws say they can't have a business in the community.

"It's a sense of camaraderie; they're having a good time. It's keeping them focused on a positive task," Elizabeth Lerner, a mother of one of the children, said.

For the children, the stand is about having fun with friends and raising money for a good cause.

"My friend, she has a disabled sister, so we donate it to her school," said Rachel Strauss.

Attempts to contact the HOA failed.

The parents of the children say the number of complaints the HOA received was less than ten.

They should just take down the sign that says .25, and leave a jar there for people to drop money in that says something like "Tips" or "donations accepted".
You have to be a turd to be the one to complain. Unless you're the neighbor and people are going across your lawn all day. I somehow doubt the traffic is very high, though.

I've read countless stories like this from lemonade stands to baked goods. Technically, just because they're children doesn't mean they don't have to have licenses. Sucks though. Nothing wrong with teaching little ones how to earn money. I always had a lemonade/kool-aid stand when we had garage sales growing up.

It's not about the kids. It's about the precedent. If you don't control it, pretty soon the neighborhood will look like this:

http://t0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQPKMIP4lTRTrsoyAOIWL1dpx2R08tV924HKjsclf5IzpjEvvOs4A

And then all of the legitimate lemonade stands where people follow the rules and buy licenses and pay taxes and support their families will be undercut on price and run out of business, and then all of society collapses and we all end up doing subsistence farming and relying on Unicef in low-rain years.

Like it or not the HOA is in place for exactly this reason.

Don't like it? Buy a house outside the HOA and have a neighbor with cars on blocks in the driveway and engine blocks in the front yard.

Down here, your housing options are very limited if you insist on a non-HOA area. All in all, our HOA is pretty laid back. They make sure people take their Christmas lights down in a timely manner and that people are not parking their junk cars in their yards. I doubt very much they would concern themselves with a lemonade stand.

Kerberos
03-30-2011, 10:14 AM
It's a good thing that HOA's are protecting society from the tyranny of lemonade stands.

It's not the lemonade stand per say that is the culprit here. Today it's a lemondade stand and tomorrow you have some jackwagon wanting to have a year long yard sale in his driveway blocking neighbors driveways and creating a nuisance.

You let one thing go on and it invites others to start something and use the ole' "WELL they got to do it so why can't I" arguement.

People next door to my parents walked away from thier mortgage and let some of their friends squat in the house till the bank forclosed.

The people decided to let all of thier friends and church buddies bring shit over and have a yard sale EVERY GAWDAMN weekend for two months straight. Blocking my parents driveway and making a nuisance out of themselves.

HOA was notified and they gave the people notice that ONE yard sale a year was the limit and it had to be approved by the HOA.

In this case the HOA did the right thing.

Kids should be able to have a lemonade stand but if ONE person complains and you have an HOA then they have a reason to shut it down.

Like I said earlier.... Don't like the HOA rules???? Don't buy a house where there is an HOA. Simple as that.

I assume that since they were squatters waiting for the foreclosure to happen that they told the HOA to get fucked.

They were actually decent people they just had this church yard sale going on for TWO friggin months. My mom laid into the lady and told her to control her customers to stop blocking her driveway.

It wasn't even my mom that reported them to the HOA I am sure it was the neighbors on the other side.

If I am not mistaken the people were LDS so they didn't want to cause problems.

Please. There's a huge difference between kids selling Lemon-aid and some dude selling junk out of his garage.

Whoever bitched about it must lead a miserable life, and should just go ahead and die already.

I'm surprised. Sometimes squatting Mormons on LSD can cause a lot of problems.

I guess it is different every place but as far as continous garage sales, that is a city issue. Here you are allowed two permits that cost $15 dollars a piece for the gargage sales. If you have more than two per year the cops shut it down, if reported.

That is really scary. Guys on LSD who hadn't jerked off in two years......

Different signs Chiefsplanet posters would have for Lemonade stands.

Donger: I don't know, why do you think the price of Lemonade is so high?
Reaper16: Well actually this is more of a Lemon Cooler. For actual Lemonade you have to go to Lemon Alabama during august. Even then you have to ASK for it.
Phobia: Edgewood Lemonade for all your thurst quenching needs
Demonpenz: I have lemnonade....haha I don't! Now with Taco Bell cups.
SaulBadguy: Please stop using my power towel to clean up lemonade
Luv: Please someone buy my Lemonade...
Milkman: Whats lemonade. I hate that.
MoHillbilly. You don't understand the culture of lemonade. You're from the city
BigDaddy: Moved to get away from Obama to make taxfree lemonade
Rain Man: appricot lemonade available.
GoChiefs: Lemonade not for Christians
Dave Lane: Jesus didn't exists, so he doesn't drink lemonade.
Hamas Jenkins: I hate my own Lemonade
[Zach] Meh...strawman Lemonade.
quicksilver: Has anyone seen my Lemonade?
StevieRay: Lemonade was better in the 70's

Outstanding!!

I told my deaf neighbor about this all he said was "What?"

No cost in my town but you still have to get a permit for a garage sale. You can have 2 a year, at least 4 months apart or something like that.
