Unfreaking believable. He is making $420,000 this year and he steals $60 worth of T-shirts.

Reds starting pitcher Mike Leake was arrested Monday afternoon and charged with shoplifting six T-shirts from a Macy's department store in downtown Cincinnati.
The 23-year-old righthander, who is 2-0 in three starts this season, allegedly removed the price tags from the American Rag shirts, which were worth $59.88, then left the store without paying for them. A Macy's loss prevention employee called police, who arrested Leake at the store, The Cincinnati Enquirer reported. According to the police report (http://news.cincinnati.com/assets/AB173228418.PDF), which the Enquirer obtained, the incident was recorded by a security camera.
Leake was booked into the Hamilton (Ohio) County Justice Center at 2:32 p.m., the Enquirer reported. He was charged with first-degree misdemeanor shoplifting. The charge carries a maximum jail term of 180 days if Leake is convicted.
The Reds said in a statement Monday night that Leake has been advised by his attorney not to talk about the case, but the pitcher did want to apologize to "his family, the fans, (Reds owner Bob) Castellini, (GM) Walt (Jocketty), (manager) Dusty (Baker), his teammates and the entire Reds organization for this distraction."

The club also said in the statement that it will handle the matter internally "when the legal process has been completed."
A Macy's spokesman said the store would not not comment beyond what the police reported.
Reds second baseman Brandon Phillips voiced support for Leake via Twitter on Monday night. "We love Leake and we stand behind him no matter what," Phillips tweeted after the Reds' 9-3 loss to the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Leake, a 2009 first-round pick by the Reds, started 22 games for the team last season and posted an 8-4 record and 4.23 ERA. He was the Reds’ winning pitcher in an 11-2 win Saturday over the Pittsburgh Pirates, in which he worked six innings and allowed two runs on four hits.
Leake's contract will pay him $425,000 this year.

Am I the only one surprised that $10 t-shirts necessitate security tags?

I think the apostrophe was misplaced in the title of this thread.

It's all a misunderstanding. He thought the cashier was giving him the steal sign.

He did a nice job of avoiding the tag.

Yes. You are also the only one who read "price" and thought "security".
