With Matty still here and this schedule... I am gonna go for 6-10. We actually have to play teams with winning records this year. Ones that actually have a defense.

Hey man, 4/20 is tomorrow...Every game on the schedule is winnable. The majority of the positions on the roster opening day 2011 will be better than they were opening day 2010. Depending on what they do in free agency and the draft, I'd be surprised if the team isn't contending for the division. Do I really think they'll win 13 games? No. But I believe the odds are better that they win 10 or more than that they lose 10 or more.

Although this is really a question for early September, when we have some idea of who've they've drafted, how good they are, how much the 2nd and 3rd year players have improved and who the starting NT, #2 WR and C are.

1 Bills @ Chiefs W
2 Chiefs @ Lions W
3 Chiefs @ Chargers L
4 Vikings @ Chiefs W
5 Chiefs @ Colts Win, muthafuckah!!!!
6 Bye
7 Chiefs @ Raiders L
8 Chargers @ Chiefs- MNF W
9 Dolphins @ Chiefs W
10 Broncos @ Chiefs W
11 Chiefs @ Patriots- MNF L
12 Steelers @ Chiefs- SNF W
13 Chiefs @ Bears W
14 Chiefs @ Jets L
15 Packers @ Chiefs L
16 Raiders @ Chiefs W
17 Chiefs @ Broncos L

And this is with my homer hat on a few times. It would be really nice if the Chiefs could go at least 4-2 in the division. That would reeeeaaally help out.

Some of these wins I'm predicting are ridiculous. I'm predicting the Indy win because we gotta beat them in Indianapolis at SOME point. Christ, it's been fucking years.

The end of our schedule is brutal. I sure hope the Chiefs have a good division record. 4-2 or better is an absolute must. That may be our only chance at the playoffs.

This is assuming that we fix our two biggest issues from '10...NT and WR and that the guys I see as taking another step (Tyson Jackson, Andy Studebaker and yes...Matt Fucking Cassel), do.

If these things dont happen, we will be lucky to win 5 games.

Hey you know what? If we have another good draft like last year things could change.

Add a few impact players(i.e., another WR, and fix the OL a bit, you never know? 11-5)....I hope so. But a good draft can change things drastically. Its too early to make the call. as the team stands now, yeah I could see 9-7 or 10-6 season.

For sure the Steelers. i think we can also win at the Bears, and if this team is worth their salt we SHOULD win at least one road division game. May as well be at the Broncos.

The schedule is tough, but at the end of the day schedule toughness is usually a product of timing. Sometimes you hit it right when a team is getting over an injury, or making a switch at a position, etc.

So many questions right now, hard to really make good decisions.

Weis is gone, how does Todd do calling the game this year.
are we really improving or were we just lucky last year?
do we make some good solid pickups, draft and FA? NT, WR, OL improve?
Does Castle play better?
Does J. Charles keep ascending? Do Defenses play against him better now?
Do we even have a year? Half a year?
Injuries, we're bound to have them.

Questions, questions....

Assuming the majority of things go our way so I can let the homer in me play today;

Bills - W
at Lions - W
at Chargers - L
Vikings - W
at Colts - L (but I agree we have to win there sometime)

10-6.

I don't think the Bears are anywhere near as good as they played last year. They had a lot of things fall right for them (overturned TD pass in the first game for one). Plus, Cutler can easily go into "I can beat D'Angelo Hall" mode at any time. Nope, that one I feel pretty comfortable with.

I also don't see the Jets nor the Steelers games as automatic losses (definitely think we can beat the Jets, but if we do, we'd likely lose to the Bears the week before just to spite me). So, for now, pre-draft, pre-free agency, pre-camp, I think I'll stay at 10-6.

BTW I picked 8-8.....

Which is not a bad thing. 8-8 despite it being 2 wins less than last year is another step in the right direction. Against this schedule it could be even worse. But 8-8 would not be a failure. To the general fan though, they will think the Chiefs would be regressing. That won't be the case. This is an all-star schedule against multiple playoff teams. two years ago, we would win maybe 1 or 2 games.

I picked 8-8. Schedule is much harder this year. This is assuming:
a) there is actually a season this year; and
b) Cassel stays healthy. If we get into starting Brokie, all bets are off.

Truth, I feel good about all of those games. One game at a time, like eating an elephant.

I love the optimism on this board. And I know the season is 5 months over for us, but is everyone's memory that short?

Looking at that schedule, I see maybe 2 wins in the first 2 games, with the Bills being 50/50. And I see maybe a win over the Raiders and the Broncos.

Other than that, all I see is ass-pounding prison style rape. Our QB is Matt Cassel, please remember this guy shit's his pants if he even realizes that the other team is on the field. Defenses will key in on JC and have him shut down with in the first quarter, and then it will be 3 and out for the rest of the game.

Make no mistake ladies and gentlemen, this is going to be a rough year. If you had planned on donating anything to the Chiefs, I would suggest anal ease, by the case.

And with this schedule that's a huge fucking compliment...

This is strictly a pre-draft/pre-free agent run through the schedule. For right now, I really think we are going to miss Charlie Wies. He did a lot of good things for Cassel. Knew his shortcommings and his strengths. Oakland and Baltimore exposed our weaknesses, and many of the teams on our schedule have the ability to do the same.

Buffalo - W
@Detroit - L (Stafford still upright. Thier D-line to strong)
@San Diego - L
Minnesota - W
@ Indianapolis - L
@ Oakland - L
San Diego - L
Miami - W
Denver - W
@ New England - L
Pittsburgh - L (short week for us, Pitt comming off Bye)
@Chicago - L
@ New York Jets - L
Green Bay - L
Oakland - W
@Denver - L

5-11 No road victories. Andrew Luck anyone?

Will revisit picks after draft and free agency.

The Chiefs haven't swept the Broncos in over a decade. Not going to happen in 2011 either.

It's been 5 years since we last swept the Raiders.

Same thing happens every year when the schedule comes out, though.

Predictions of sweeping the Broncos and/or Raiders.

Even when this division is down, wins are hard to come by.

Not this year, my rose colored homer glasses are on, and I think the chiefs can definitely win two against broncos this year. split with the chargers and raiders though....

Yes, because thats happened A LOT the past 1.5 years. Dude is a top 3 RB, he will make shit happen no matter how hard they key in on him. And if we get another WR opposite Bowe, they wouldn't be able to key in that hard on JC.

What's your game by game wins and losses?

Bills Win... Home opener, no brainer...start off right foot!
at Lions Win.... tough game though, Lions are Improving
at Chargers Loss...We just don't beat them there since Mary left
Vikings Win The Vikings window shut... but this won't be a cake walk
at Colts Win Going out on a limb here. We blew this one last year
at Raiders Win...Time to get back to whipping them always.
Chargers Win... Home and Home..somethings never change
Dolphins Win... We'll find a way to make it close though.
Broncos Win... Just like old times
at Patriots Loss... I think it will be closer than people think. Pats on the slide
Steelers Win.... Since Cowher left, we whip 'em at Arrowhead.
at Bears Win... Just cuz I think Chicago is over-rated
at Jets Loss... Jets are always hot at end of season
Packers Loss.... We CAN win this game.
Raiders Win.... If we let them beat us again at home, I think I'll die
at Broncos Win... Donkeys season will be over and we should feast on Tebow
12-4 but cold easily be 9-7

Actually, JC got shut down this very last season when ever we played a team that could get out of its own way. If you doubt me, watch the second Chargers game, JC was walled up and Cassel completely crumbled. Teams are not scared of Cassel, so they will put 9/10 in the box, JC will be crushed, Cassel will whimper like a 12 year old girl, and the defense gets syphoned like a tank of gas.

Bills - Win, but I would not even be surprised if this was our first meeting with the salad tossing man.

@Lions - Win

@Chargers - First official meeting with the salad tossing man. He brings aunt jamima maple syrup for us to use.

Vikings - Win. They are starting their downward spiral, and we wash the tasye of Maple out of our mouth. Defense destroys Peterson.

@Colts - Ass rape in the court yard. We get destroyed. Peyton wipes himself off on Haley's sweater.

@Raiders - Win. Because the Reaper still runs this disaster.

Chargers - This time the salad tossing man brings grape jelly. "But i dont like grape jelly!"

Dolphins - Win. Even a blind squirrel....

Broncos - Win. The only team that takes cutting themselves more seriously than the Raiders.

@Patriots - We take it in the bobo as Tom thanks us for wrecking his knee a few years ago.

Steelers - We learn what its like to be traded for a pack of cigarettes on cell block B.

@Bears - Our defense sees a real defense. Bright side is they learn something.

@Jets - Mecca and draftabators take turns eiffel towering eachother as Sanchez and the rest of the Jets us like the latest addition to the bang bus marathon.

Packers - Aaron Rogers and Clay Matthews re-enact the finger cuffs scene from Mall Rats. Matt Cassel plays the part of Joey Lauren Adams, whiney bitch voice and all.

Raiders - Win. I turn 35 on Dec. 7th. This is the game i plan to fly in to KC for and go to my first Arrowhead game. I want snow, i want sleet, i'm hoping some generous KC native will be willing to show this California boy what a tailgate party is. Most of all I want the raiders to be used and abused like choir boys.

@Broncos - They win their first game of the season. The day is rough but the following week is awesome as Haley and Pioli sacrifice Matt Cassel on the plane ride home.

Cassel might not fold against stronger d's if he's given a pair of receivers to work with and an o-line that doesn't collapse in the middle whenever they face any quality defensive tackle. Then again he might.

Hopefully they take care of that in the draft/free agency, and we see if he does or not. I can all but guarantee if there's still no #2 and Wiegmann isn't retired or on the bench, Cassel's going to look exactly the same in '11. Because they were a one- (well, okay two) trick pony. Double Bowe and stop Charles. And that's it.

It would be nice to see them attempt a passing offense that goes a little deeper than "get it out of the QB's hands as fast as possible so he doesn't get killed".

Aw man! You're gonna' LOVE IT! I used to have season tickets from Virginia. Arrowhead is the greatest stadium, the fans are Crazy and you will totally LOVE IT! I hope you have the greatest birthday EVER at Arrowhead. Write Pioli and tell him, he might let you on the field with a special pass. CP let me on it once - my dad and I are disabled Vets and he made an exception for us. GO CHIEFS!

5-11 No road victories. Andrew Luck anyone?

On paper, I like what we did in the draft. In particular, Hudson and Powe. If those two pan out like I believe they can, I can see an additional couple of wins. Hudson and Asamoah inserted into the O-line gives some sort of combination that looks like Albert, Lilja, Hudson, Asomoah, Richardson... with Harris as a possible dark horse to replace Lilja. If we can convert the 3rd and 1's on the ground, the passing attack becomes much more effective in play action as well. Adding Baldwin to the perimeter with Bowe, and Moeaki in the seams could really have potential with the threat of the ability to move the chains in short yardage on the ground.

On the defensive side, if Powe can anchor the middle like he did as a junior at Ole Miss... and he was impressive as a junior... our whole defense becomes much more effective. Blitzers may actually have lanes to the QB, and could come from anywhere at anytime. That's the part of the 3-4's ran by Baltimore and Pittsburgh that really intrigues me, and that I hope to see from our squad as soon as this season.

So for now, a couple of more wins. Maybe over the Lions or San Diego at home from the first group of 5 losses. And possibly either Pittsburgh at home or at Chicago from the last group of 5 losses.

7-9 for right now, pending what happens in the FA signing period. Add a Santanna Moss, and maybe a starting RT so Richardson can become the backup tackle to both positions, and I might even tack on a couple of more.
