This series will be a good barometer of where the team is. I think they need to win at least one to keep the momentum going. Defending American League champs on the road is a tough weekend draw, but winning at least one, and being in the game late all weekend would be a positive sign for this young team.

Hope Francis can get a win tonight. He has pitched well but the Royals have come up short in his starts so far.

sweet. Well, I've got $100 on this. If it was even or just +110 I wouldn't do it, but $100 to win $155 looked pretty good to me.

oh, and I finally figured out the runline. Every underdog is +1.5, they just adjust the payout from there.

Even then though, the Royals aren't as big of an underdog comparably to other underdog teams when you give them 1.5 runs as when you look at the moneyline for the royals to win at texas straight-up. Thats weird. Give the royals 1.5 runs and you don't get a good deal, but talk about them winning or losing straight-up and there's this huge bonus for betting on the royals. That means the gamblers think the royals have little chance to get blown out, but a terrific chance to lose by 1 run. Why?

put another way, 100 to win 155 implies that we have a 100/(100+155) = 39% chance of winning. There's also a small pad in there for vig so the casino makes money, so call it 36%

In other words, if we played this game repeatedly 162 times, we'd lose 104 games. That seems a little harsh given what we now know.
