Who is everybody? Nothing has changed so quickly.

Pena should be starting. When Treanor was signed, Rany posted that it seemed to be Moore's duty to downgrade the catcher position whenever possible. And referencing one of the worst signings in recent memory doesn't help the cause.

McClure has made chicken salad out of chickensh!t more times that royals fans can count. Every team has busts - Hoch was regarded as a sh!tty pick from day 1, and Davies is only here because the Braves gave up on him and wanted to get something in return. We've had sh!tty talent forever, and McClure has worked more miracles than has had busts. He is not the problem IMHO.

Chen is solid. Grienke became a Cy Young winner under McClure. Meche was good until his arm fell off. Bannister was unexpectably solid for a while. And there are numerous bullpen guys that have produced while here and earned themselves good paychecks in the next city.

Getz's problem is he's retarded. Against a lefty, it should be obvious that the outside part of the plate is where you look to try and go the other way. It looked like he was trying to get something down the middle to kill it.

Saying "the Royals dont believe in power" is just really silly. Every team wants power. Its not like you can go to the local Dollar Store and buy 3 sluggers with decent OBP's.

Our power is in the minor leagues.

We have heard that for 25 years

for many of those years we were led by drooling retards.

I'm sorry, but if you believe that if the Royals knew for sure the last few years they could either draft a .875 OPS 35-home run hitter or a .900 OPS 10-home run hitter, that they would draft the latter, you are being silly.

Every team wants a good slugger who isn't an automatic sell-out strikeout. It is very damned hard to find that slugger when they are 18 or 20 years old.

Thus, to say "the Royals don't believe in power" is completely stupid, and ignores Occam's Razor which would suggest instead that they were either too unlucky or too stupid to identify these sluggers.

Aside from that, this dumb "Royals dont believe in Sluggers" theory would have to completely ignore Wil Myers and Hosmer. Why were THEY drafted?

for many of those years we were led by drooling retards.

Bases loaded.. no outs.. our "power hitter" pops up to second base.

It might be that he's traded eventually, because he certainly doesn't have a future in the field. However, his salary and ability at the plate are pretty much consistent with each other.

If you are complaining about that, you need to take a deep breath, calm yourself down, and realize that this is not football.

In the game of major league baseball, we play 162 games, the game is EXTREMELY random, and "clutch hitting" is about as real as the tooth fairy.

Hypothetically speaking, every time a hitter comes up you are rolling one of those nerdy D&D-ish 100-sided die, and the results on the faces of those die are weighted differently based on how good the hitter is and how good the pitcher they are facing is. But, every hitter, EVERY HITTER, no matter how terrible the pitcher is, and no matter how good or how allegedly "clutch" they are, is capable of striking out in the 9th inning of game 7 in the world series.

I would not have offered the contract. I'm guessing the Royals needed a "Face of the franchise" and some assurance they would keep someone after trading Greinke.

There could be some subtle indirect benefit to the business from "keeping Butler" that helps beyond what could be explained by his performance (good though it may be, but limited by his lack of defense). If you are a "face of the franchise", you should expect some sort of premium for assuming that duty.

I think what most people are frustrated with is that he never seems to get the "big" hit. Take tonight for example. Bases loaded, no outs and he just comes up with zero discipline, swinging at the first two pitches he saw. It seems like when he knows we need him to do something, he loses what makes him a great hitter.

DeezNutz

Looks like 2 home runs for the season... he is a slap doubles hitter that is all.

point where I made the argument that Butler is a home-run hitter. Maybe he'll become one, but he is not. Regardless, he is an extremely good, very productive hitter. On most teams he'd be a solid #5 or #6 hitter. To criticize him for being what he is not is silly, but he is NOT a bad hitter. If we had a good slugger hitting behind Gordon and in front of Butler, you'd be praising Butler!

Why? Why would the presence of a slugger make you appreciate Butler more? Is that not dumb?

You were the one who made the stupid proclamation that the Royals "dont believe in Power". On its face, that is silly because reliable power hitters who are not inning-killing strikeout machines are very rare.

Your unproven silly assertion is about the same as if I said a certain mutual fund manager "didn't believe in profits" because he lost money in the last 5 years. Its not that he simply wasn't good enough to figure out what to invest in (similar to our front office's failure to draft well), no, obviously that couldn't be it, he must not believe in profits. (ie our front office idiotically doesn't believe in power, that is so much easier to believe than the thought that they failed to find it) He's a lazy bum who wants to steal money from investors for fees until no one is willing to invest in his fund, yeah thats it!

Sounds outlandish? Its about as likely as the silly thought that the Royals don't believe in power!
