We have a family member who was baby sitting my daughters dog during the time the Greensburg Tornado hit & devistated that town. I got a phone call at 3am that the family member was fine and was at the Pratt hospitlal, little shook up. She survived & was found 3-4 hours after it hit the town under some heavy sheet rock. However the next day we couldn't get to Greensburg cuz it was all blocked off. We had to wait a few days & turned out to be nine more days before we could find the block that her house was on.

My daughter was real upset about her dog missing, but she ended up finding her under some debree or closet. The dog survived nine days with out any food or drink. We call it the Meracle dog & it recovered just fine after a few weeks. Pretty damn cool huh. The dogs name is Sammie & it was just a black and tan hound dog ruffly 35-40lbs.

An ode to Fax:

There once was a man named Fax
His last post on chiefsplanet was quiet lax
He was running from a storm which put him tits up for mourners to adorn
While waiting in line at the pearly gates he did an about face
Standing behind him was an earthly friend who played bass
Fax said "it got you too"
"ey" said the bass player "and my little dog too"
After a compassionate smile Fax turned back around, looked all around and said "Hey Brandon Lee!". He didn't appear in "The Crow part 2".

OH HAIL!

The wife and I were out about a half an hour from tonight when a giant hail storm broke out. It smashed the back window out, cracked the window, broke the sideview mirror, and generally dented the everliving snot out of the car. There was break in the weather and so we decided to head home. Scary crap. Tornado warnings everywhere, heavy rain, and more hail. I was afraid it was going to finish off the windshield or a tornado was going to drop out of the sky and complicate our lives. Eventually we made it to our exit and we pulled off the highway and all the local roads are flooded. Finally we navigated through through all the floods and made it home. Still under tornado watches until 1:00 AM. Gosh I hope the worst is over. I've been home for 40 minutes and am still stressed out.

FAX
04-27-2011, 10:51 PM
Finally emerged from the basement. Got hungry and decided it wasn't worth the effort to try and barbecue a rat using a propane torch and some pliers.

We were lucky. Neighbor trees lying all over the place. Big ones. Dogs running wild (probably because the lightning knocked out some radio fence enclosures). People weeping. Roof damage. Some dumbass' backyard trampoline is in a tree down the street. Not sure what to think about that. But no deaths in the neighborhood.

What a storm. The bad news is that the rivers are rising once again and the last thing we need around here is another flood. If we get another one of those damn things, I'm going to consider collecting animals two by two - except for ants. They're on their own.

On a side note, if there remained any doubt whatsoever that our government is run by a pack of unbridled morons, they interrupt really effective and useful live, weather reports that are complete with detailed Doppler radar and storm tracking down to the minute with these funky gray screens of text and some machine robot dude telling you that there's a storm in the area and you should take cover. I wonder how much that costs the taxpayers. I'm going to write my congressman as soon as my stationary dries out.

Meanwhile, thanks for the awesome post things, my friends. A 100 poster! Assuming Mr. Skip Towne never returns and I live another 20 years and don't get banned again, I could wind up winning this deal.

Actually, the power was only out overnight. A neighbor's tree fell on the pole that holds the feed line to the house ... knocked out the cable, too.
