They were talking about how this looks like the year of the pitcher, even more so than last year, and part of that is because there are so many guys that throw hard. Tim Kurkjian said he was talking to Buck Showalter the other day about it, and Buck said the same thing. Then said "Have you seen the Kansas City bullpen? Everybody throws at least 95 mph."

yeah, that is yet another problem with going in head-first to throw onto the pile of why its dumb to do it. If the fielder is perceptive and quick enough to react to your slide, he can block you with his knee. If your face slides right into his knee or he's able to get your head with his leg, thats your problem. No one in their right mind will try to block off your cleated foot.
