It's not going to be a no-hitter. I don't know why the media keeps saying that.

Of course it's not going to be a no-hitter. But he is a very good pitcher and it's tough for any offense to break out on him.

he did shut out Toronto, but before that the Yankees, White Sox, and even the Mariners were all able to score on him and get him out by the end of the 7th. No one has torched him yet recently, but he's beatable.

the key with hitting verlander is making sure you get a good pitch to hit, then hit it hard somewhere.

Yes. He does. But arguably to this point in the season he is the best hitter on team.

Does Hoch have any trade value at this point?

alnorth

His strikeout and walk numbers look nice, but Hoch is throwing 1.88 HR/9

That is really bad.

edit: actually, I was looking at the K/BB ratio. His K/9 is mediocre at best. So, I guess the only thing he's doing well is not walking anyone.

umm ... 3 runs is lousy?

The lead off homerun was a killer, being down 2 to Verlander early on was the death nail.

I will also say I was against Hoch from the beginning. If he had been drafted in the 4th round or later he would be an ok pick, but being he was the 1st overall pick he has been a bust.

which changes nothing

Hoch was ok, it was our hitting that wasn't good enough against verlander

lots of people have had that problem against Verlander this year

When he was picked is now irrelevant to me. He either has value to us or he doesn't. Either we can use him or he should be traded/released. I wouldn't be more inclined to keep him if he were a steal as a 17th-round pick. When he was picked is a credit or an albatross to hang around the neck of the GM (or lack of a GM in this case) who picked him.

Verlander dealt tonight. He has been hittable this year though. Being down early because ole Dumbo ears gives up a bomb to lead off a game is hard to come back from especially when Verlander is dealing.

This. We gave up 3 runs. Hoch kept us in the game. Not a Hoch fan, but he kept us in the game. Have to score more than 3 runs to win. Doesn't matter who is pitching.

It's hard to take you seriously when you actually admit that you're bias.

I don't really have anything to say, these games happen, I was surprised Treanors Leg didn't bust through his pants like Mosies Alou when he went around 2nd
