So, why isn't Soria on the DL yet?

No idea, but maybe it goes back to that article where McClure was talking about how he's noticed changes in Soria's delivery? I'm assuming they think his problems aren't physical, but something they can change quickly by tinkering with his mechanics.

Perhaps he could tinker with his mechanics somewhere other than the closer's role, then?

Well, you'd think. Especially with the way Crow is dealing. I think he could handle the closer role for a week or three, if necessary.

Hoch is starting to look like Davies - shows good "stuff" and has stretches where he is borderline dominant, but can't be consistent with it and allows 8-run innings that kill our chances.

When a guy throws 2 balls no where near the plate I am taking all the way until I get at least a strike.

Dude, please don't be logical

Melky has never been known as someone who is patient.

Up 2-0 in the second, per ChiTown.

How about we not get swept? Any takers?

No thanks.

I missed the hit. Was there any misplaying or did it just find it's way through?

Sorry Coleman, Wood deserved that loss

Also, somebody please tell me that Cain has a better arm than Melky

From top to bottom, this team is fucking garbage.

And I hate to admit it, but I am not at all sold on everything getting better in a year or two once our magical prospects come up.

We need four new (legit) starting pitchers. Once this happens, things will look better very quickly.

And how do you suppose we get them?

Montgomery has been mediocre
Dwyer has been terrible
Lamb probably needs Tommy John

I'm not sure why anybody is surprised, or where all the doomsday reaction is coming from. They have no pitching. We knew that in Spring Training. Hell, we knew that in January. The only real oddity I see is the disparity between the way they play at home (17-13) and on the road (5-14).

Fortunately for them they're back at home Monday, for 11 games.

We need to buy one and hope that two of the Minor leaguers pan out and that Duffy stays solid.

Trade Aviles, Melky, Getz, and Betemit for whatever we can and bring Moose and Cain up.

Perhaps not having a 36Mil dollar payroll and going out and signing a few would be a good start.

1. Don't trade aces (not really complaining about Greinke because I think he pretty much forced the issue since he's a bitch).
2. Don't destroy high-quality FA signings (again, Moore needs to own some of the blame for blowing up Meche).

We're going to need to buy one starter and hope like hell we can develop the rest. Right now, I agree that things look bleak.

KC is never going to be big players for free agent pitchers, unless they are crappy.

We need to develop our own pitchers, and if we can't then we are totally f'd.

They have been lately, they just started slow. Plus both are defensive upgrades.

I expected a little better run production out of the offense, but yeah no surprise on the starting pitching at all. I still think Crow needs another shot at moving to starter. I wouldn't mind seeing Tejada get another shot in that role as well.

agree, trade off those who arn't part of the plan bring up the young guys let them finish the year.

I would like to see Frenchy stay as our RF'er but im guessing hes gonna be one of the first to be traded to a contender who needs another decent bat. Butler obv doesn't like his situation as a perma DH so I wouldn't be suprised to see him push to get out.

Cain is a lot better than Melky. He has great range, doesn't take stupid angles or get fooled by hard-hit balls. Also, I'm praying he's more patient than Melky, who will swing at anything at eye level at 3-0. Moose may not be a huge upgrade over Betemit, but at least he can hit a jack every once in awhile. However, defensive upgrade over Betemit? That's pretty sad considering it's Moose......

This team lacks power in the worst way. I think Cain will hit for about the same power Melky does, but Moose should be a hugh upgrade in that department. We just aren't ever going to win with a lineup full of guys hitting 12-15 HR's per year IMO.

Although people are going to have to realize that they're not going to be 40 HR guys right out of the gates. But I'd be real surprised if a new team HR record isn't an annual tradition by 2014 or 2015, at least for a couple or three years. (This is assuming Francoeur is traded and doesn't break it this year himself...)

The front end of the schedule is loaded with home games. Barring rainouts, when the upcoming homestand is over the Royals will have already played half of their home games. The Royals only have 30 home games after the All Star Break.

The Royals only have 30 home games after the All Star Break.Odds are it will balance out. That's what usually happens in baseball. They'll win a few less home games, win a few more away games, and end up in the 90-100 loss range, where basically everybody expected they would be...

Hell, for all the wailing going on right now, they're still 22-27, which would project out to 73-89.

Folks let themselves get caught up in the aberrant start to the year, I guess.

trade butler, melky, getz for a left handed specialist, someone who can hit a hr, and for getz we should be able to get a year supply of sunflower seeds.

Francis can go too maybe for some gatoraid so we can be gtg for seeds and drink next year imo.

I would have said Davies but im sure he's gonna be working at subway next year
