Independence Cops KILL concrete alligator

Lawn ornaments, beware. Independence police will shoot to kill. Earlier this week, Rick Sheridan found police officers shooting his concrete alligator, according to Fox 4.

Independence police had received a call from a man saying his son had spotted a gator in a creek. Police hit the scene and, with the go-ahead from the Missouri Conservation Department, attempted to put down the gator. The TV station reported that after two shots, the officers realized that they were dealing with a fake gator.

"The officer fired two rounds, and killed my concrete, ornamental alligator," Sheridan told Fox 4.

The officers contacted Sheridan and apologized for shooting his fake gator. Police claimed that Sheridan said he'd put the gator in his yard to keep children off his property. They told him a "No Trespassing" sign would suffice.

However, Sheridan told Fox 4 that he didn't put the gator there to frighten children, although he has a problem with kids trespassing on his property.

I'm a little shocked that the first option for handling a gator is to blast it with a shotgun. Still, if we're talking lawn gnomes, I wouldn't mind blasting one of those underwear-thieving f**kers. They have it coming.

When I went to New Orleans this spring break, I watched two drunk guys having a conversation at 1am about whether a statute was a real person or not. They were waving their hands in front of it and whispering in its ear and stuff. Really great scene.

must have been far enough away that they couldn't tell that it was fake, I bet they didn't know there is only one kill shot on an alligator and it's only about the size of a quarter. You miss and it just pisses them off.

I keep coming back to the same thought, which is, one of the first things they teach in hunter safety school is to be 100% sure of your target before firing. Does this not get taught at the academy? Just think this cop showed poor enough judgement he should be let go.
