I'm going through Dallas

I'm Driving to Amarillo in a couple of weeks and I''ll be staying in the Dallas area one night. I'm looking at the Addison area. Cheap hotels and lots of entertainment within walking. If anyone has any other suggestions, it would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Downtown or University area of Ft Worth. Really all depends on what you want and how old you are... but I prefer Ft Worth over Dallas.

Bob's Steak House & Chop House... It's in Ft. Worth, but a great place to eat...

There are some outstanding musuems in Ft Worth-and a very cool hotel done up as an old mining town that is great to walk around and enjoy the water falls.

I don't mind paying for good food and booze. I just don't want to pay $200 a night hotel. In Dallas hotels are $150 plus $25 for parking. I would much rather spend the extra cash on food and booze.

Well it might be worth it then. It's nice to go to a place that's not a chain IMO. And the steaks are about as good as you're going to get. I had the rack of lamb, and it was arguably the best I've ever had.

yeah, northern new mexico = colorado-esque

however, the drive there, north and west of amarillo, probably exposes you to the flattest land on earth. its SOOooo flat.

If you stay in Ft Worth, stay in DOWNTOWN itself or the STOCKYARDS. Downtown Ft Worth has PLENTY of good bars and a good variety of restaurants as well.

I decided to stay in Addison. Got a room at the Hyatt for $60. At that rate I may stay another night for the "red, white and boob" (oops I mean boom). Lots of food and booze in walking distance. Thanks for all of your suggestions.
