We all know about Facebook's awesome record on protecting our privacy, so what safer way to solicit an assassin to rub out your no-good baby-daddy than through the auspices of the social-media giant?

Perhaps that's what twenty-year-old Southwest Philadelphia resident London Eley was thinking. Or maybe she wasn't thinking at all when she wrote "I will pay somebody a stack to kill my baby father," on her Facebook profile on May 23. That "stack" turned out to be $1000 — probably a lot of money to Ms. Eley, but when you consider that her bail is $250,000, you have to wonder if it was worth it.

Eighteen-year old Tim Bynum, of nearby Darby, must have thought $1000 was too good an offer to refuse, because he replied to Eley's message, agreeing to do the dirty deed on the condition that he get his cash up front. Luckily, the intended victim and father of Eley's baby, Corey Jerome White, was tipped off to the heinous plot by his aunt, who saw the message, and was able to alert authorities. Officers subsequently found a .22-caliber handgun in Bynum's home. Lieutenant John Walker, summing up what most people are probably thinking, said, "It's shocking that people are just so stupid."

Eley was arrested on June 10 and charged with conspiracy to commit murder. Bynum was picked up two days later and charged with attempted murder and conspiracy, and is being held on $350,000 bail. Mark Zuckerberg has not been charged as an accessory, though the Winklevoss brothers probably wish he had been.

She originally posted it on myspace but no one else has gone to myspace in over a year, so it went unseen.

Dumb - Facebook has the worst hitmen. Craigslist is the way to go.
