Scorcher: Record Heat Wave Hits 15 U.S. States
By: Alyson Krueger

Watch out, America — a dangerous heat wave is coming your way.

According to CNN, fifteen states in the Midwest, the Plains, and the Southeast are under heat advisories, which means temperatures are predicted to rise above 105 degrees Fahrenheit. The heat index, how hot it actually feels, is expected to be between 110 and 115 degrees.

How does this happen? High pressure over the Plains region keeps a stable weather pattern, allowing heat to build, and preventing thunderstorms from providing much needed relief. The advisories and warnings will remain in effect until at least Tuesday. Until then, people should dress cool, drink plenty of fluids, and of course, hit the nearest pool.

The states under the heat advisory are: Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, Iowa, Missouri, Arkansas, Louisiana, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee, Alabama and Mississippi.

I'd still rather be hot than cold any old day, i always feel like doing something when its hot & sunny, went for a nice run in the park today as a matter of fact... a few pullups on the monkey bars, a few feet on the picnic table pushups, felt good putting on a nice sweat, makes me appreciate coming home to the air more.

Let me know how you like it when those monkey bars burn your hands so bad they blister, the picnic table is too hot to touch and that nice sweat turns into a nice heat stroke.

Well you don’t have to work to build up a sweat here, just stand around in it.
Even the breeze doesn’t help since its just as hot as everything else. It’s like standing around in a convection oven.

Not too bad today though, don't think its even 100. But the monsoon last night put some humidity in the air. Still, walking around downtown I saw tourists here for the All Star Game with a glazed look in their eye like they didn't drink a bunch of water before wandering out. Be worse tomorrow.

You've got my sympathy.
Worst summer I've endured outside of the Army was the year I spent traveling the country doing in car video installs. I was sent on a trip to OKC, Dallas, Waco then Carthage, TX in August with a couple of installs to do in each place and not a single one of those garages was air conditioned. I probably sweated out a good 15 lbs on that trip.

When I was in high school and college, I hated summer because of the humidity and would wear shorts year round... 10-15 years later, I'd rather be outside in the heat & humidity than be outside dealing with a -10 degree wind chill. Getting old, I guess.... I drove home today with the windows rolled down and sunroof open... have the AC set to 80, which is what a lot of people set it to when they aren't home, heh.
