Do you like this movie or not?
Why or why not?
I'll start the discussion: I did not like the movie. It's been a couple years, so fill me in if I'm misunderstanding something, but a small handful of drunken assholes decide to take the law into their own hands, which is done through minimal investigation, and then overnight turn into flawless, professional assassins.
Batman did it better, methinks.
Tell me why I'm either right, or an asshat. THERE IS NO IN BETWEEN.

Dafoe killed it for me. Otherwise a fine movie, nothing spectacular, but his over-the-top performance in his scenes really grated on my nerves.

Never have cared for it much. I expected better because it was so hyped up before I first saw it, but it just felt like a poor ripoff of other gangster movies.

Thought it was the cat's pajamas when I first saw it back in the day. Watched it again a year or two ago and kinda felt like it was a fucking cheese fest.*

Imma fill you in cuz yeah you do misunderstand the movie.. They didnt just up and decide to become vigilantes. They were minding their biz bein alcoholics when those russian asswhipes came to muscle the bartender/owner. Good ol fashioned bar fight goes down and next morning Russian assholes come for revenge. So really they were forced into the role. It could had just been another night with some fisticuffs but instead it got serious and so did they.
Definitely not an epic film or anything. It's my friends favorite movie so I've had to sit through it more times than I'd like, but its legit.

No. This was one of those Post Pulp Fiction movies when everyone was looking for the next Tarantino. Theres a good doc that was made about the dude that made this film. His ego got the better of him.

So, i'm not sure if i'm going to watch it anytime soon.

It understands its low budget, it's a genre flick (action,) and it doesn't take itself too serious.
It does have a point. It's 3 idiots trying to be Robin Hood in modern times...

As for the movie, I honestly don't remember much about it, except that the Dafoe stuff was a bit disturbing. I didn't hate it, but I wasn't terribly impressed. Had no desire to see the second one.

To me it was a big let down.
You can understand cutting corners on a small budget flick. It can't be fucking Die Hard.
But I'm thinking they had 3 times the budget for II and still fucked it up...

I understand your hatred for artsy/overly-cerebral flicks.
And they really didn't do a good job (in the theatrical cut) of explaining what the **** was going on.
The Director's cut is much better, explains a lot more, and you don't leave with 20 questions about what actually happened.
I know the whole religion/private school thing isn't your cup of tea but that was the 30 something audience he was going for...

State of Grace is better.
I agree that State of Grace is better if we're talking about overall film making. But Boondock Saints is a great, cult action film. I think it has tremendous replay value. I could watch Boondock Saints over and over and over again. It's not a serious film, but damn it's fun!
State of Grace is a great crime thriller/drama.

That was the St. Louis game IIRC. Every time you went to piss we scored another touchdown - it was an epic beatdown. We had seats in the upper level and were surrounded by douchebag Ram fans who all left at halftime and never came back.
