Buried in a huge thread. We get it. STFU.

I can live with this to a degree. This team is clearly in the midst of a youth movement which is cheap by default. And it's not like we've let any of our talent get away. Could we have spent money to upgrade a few positions? Sure. But it's not like this team is playing it cheap while only a peice or two away from greatness (like they did with defense in the Vermeil era).

And on the bright side, at least salary cap hit doesn't factor into giving up on Cassel.

Kinda surprising considering the contract we just gave Tamba.

Kinda surprising considering the contract we just gave Tamba. I find that interesting as well.

See that carrot Gaither. Get you some

Heres a list of guys that could very well command close to top dollar for their position after the year. I have included their current cap figure as well.

Carr - 2.61 million
Flowers - 555,000 (surprised we havent heard a peep from him at that figure)
Gaither - 685,000
Bowe - 2.765

If we lock up those 4 guys, it could cut that number down significantly...especially if the deals are frontloaded.

We don't NEED to get that number down, and we don't need to frontload the contracts. There is really no reason to. Keep the players, yes.. but we don't have to prove we can spend alot of money.. especially not these next two years, before the salary floor even comes into effect.

If we are going to be able to build this roster over time, the smart thing would be to spend the money now so that the contracts are easily manageable once the cap is in place.

DO you mean, when the floor is in place? Obviously the cap is already in place, although it is going to keep rising.
