Probably the first step towards an injury settlement and release.

The fact that this actually makes me worry a little is a sorry statement regarding the shape of our offensive tackles.

It's absolutely unfathomable that Scott Pioli did so little to address the RT position this offseason.

I'm hoping to God that he's waiting to see what's on the scrap heap after all the cuts are made.

It obviously won't be anything to jump for joy about.....but fuck....something is better than nothing at this point.

No there's nothing wrong with being happy. For one thing, like you pointed out...he sucks. Badly. Secondly, what's there to actually feel sorry for? He gets a big ass paycheck and all he has to do is watch football on his butt and eat handfuls of vicodin. Everyone should be so lucky.

Chiefs now thin in experienced tackles
The Chiefs are down to three experienced offensive tackles after placing injured veteran Ryan O’Callaghan on the injured-reserve list, ending his season.

O’Callaghan started 12 games at right tackle for the Chiefs in 2009 and one last season. He previously started seven games for New England.

Branden Albert and Barry Richardson remain the starters. Jared Gaither, who signed after camp began, is the third experienced tackle. Gaither missed all of last season with back problems.

The Chiefs also have undrafted rookies in David Mims and Butch Lewis who have played tackle.

''I’ve been comfortable with Barry and Brandon,'' coach Todd Haley said. ''I’m getting more and more comfortable with Jared as he’s coming along physically. He’s getting up to speed now and made big progress this week and then last game I was happy he was even in there. This week he’s been able to build on it. We’re all liking some things we’re seeing out of him so that’s good.''

The Chiefs made one other roster move today, releasing kicker Todd Carter. That leave Ryan Succop as the only remaining kicker on the roster.

The two roster moves leave the Chiefs with the NFL limit of 80 players. They must be down to the regular-season maximum of 53 by Saturday.

Haley said the Chiefs wouldn’t necessarily be looking for tackles.

''I reserve the right as I always do that if there’s guys we think fit with what we’re trying to do and can create competition, we’ll be on it,'' Haley said.

I think we need a specialist long kicker. I'm tired of constantly getting returns to the 25/30 yard line when everyone else is taking the touchback.

The bad thing is that the divide between OCally and Richardson isn't as wide as we once thought it was.

With the new rule Succop can make them take a knee everytime.

He's been doing it in preseason. Sometimes he kicks it short so the team can practice it's kick coverage.

with the new kickoff rule that shouldn't be a problem. Specialist long kickers are now obsolete.

Since Roaf retired 5 years ago the Chiefs have been using band-aid solutions mostly for the offensive line.

Next offseason make offensive line THE priority in both free agency and the draft.

I want the early 2000's offensive line again. That will make everything about this team better.

flozell adams is on the market.

i honestly think he is the best guy out there.

i thought he played well w/ pitt last year. the guy is a 5x probowler and brings much added experience that we sorely need.

This is probably good news as it means they think Gaither can be the swing tackle.

Which means he could eventually start at right tackle this year.

I can't imagine they'd throw anyone else out there at either tackle spot this year unless they make a move for a vet.

they should get a veteran.

its the best solution.

the position needs a quick fix.

sign a guy to one year deal this year and draft a tackle next year.

start gaither at LT. move albert over to LG. sign a vet rt. thats what i would do.

Lets see we have used a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd round picks on the OL. But we are just using band-aids on it. ROFL

he is probably referring to the band-aids as a way of patching up the tackle situation and if you think about it, it makes sense.

gaither?? is a band-aid. could be a good band-aid if it works out.

rt situation could very well be a band-aid IF they decide to make a move for a vet.

i also understand your point though. they did use a 1st to draft albert. used a 2nd to take hudson, and a 3rd for asamoah.

And yet the offensive line still is garbage.

Lilja is a band-aid solution. Albert is not a franchise caliber left tackle. And the right tackle situation is a mess.

Don't let cold hard facts get in the way of your homerism.

If that was the case then how in the hell did he get beat inside? If he was expecting outside help there is no way in hell he would let the rusher beat him inside.
