His mixed doubles 1st round match is tonight @ 6. He's teamed with Melenie Oudin. It can be seen on ESPN3.com.

Finally makes it to Round 4 in a major... gets Nadal on clay. I think they play at 9am CT. I've never seen him play before

Is this the same guy the Chiefs signed in free agency last year?

I watched most of the match. His backhand is his weakness and Nadal took advantage. They mentioned that he's working with the Chiefs' strength and conditioning coach Brent Salazar.

Many years ago I played some tennis. I would go to a club every Friday where they would semi-randomly put you into doubles games over the course of a social evening. They would generally try to match you up with people of similar ability. I had no training, but I was 25 years old or so, so I was generally in the above average group. I was by no means great, but I could compete with most of the casual players.

One night, the pairings were a little skewed, and the organizer put me into the top group. Two of the guys were really good, and the fourth was ... wow.

I don't know what his background was, or if he was a pro or something, but my god. He was really tall and he would scream in serves at the speed of light with massive unpredictable spin on them to the point where they would skew off 45 degree in any direction once they hit the ground. I have no idea how someone returns a serve like that. You couldn't plan for it to come in straight or the skew would kill you, and you couldn't plan for it to skew because coming in straight would make you eat the ball.

And I'm presuming that this was just some guy on his college team or something. It really makes me wonder what a pro serve is like.
