I'm just not seeing why this guy has been around this long. I would love to see the Chiefs find a young power back. Last year they could have had Blount but stuck with Battle. This year someone like John Clay would have been a nice undrafted pick up. Heck just about every back I've watched this pre season league wide looks like they have more than Battle. He can't be that good on special teams.

Battle definitely needs to go, everybody except the coaches know this.

In the Bucs game he reminded me of Larry Johnson right before we cut him. It seemed like he was really really slow getting to the line and went down as soon as he got there.

He's basically around so we don't have to give Cassel, Jones, McCluster, or McClain any carries late in these preseason games.

I've wanted to like this guy for a few years and he just isn't any good....reminds me of Brodie.

Jackie Battle would better this team and probably all of professional football if he would simply hurl himself off the tallest edifice in KC, MO.

Special Teams, simple as that. There are four ball carriers ahead of him on the roster, so it's not as if he's ever going to be asked to contribute as a running back.

I've been in his corner for a long time. Since LJ was here.

He hasn't improved and has fumbled WAY too much. Gotta go.

It is an exaggeration to drive a point. I'm sure you have never done that, right? :)

I'm just saying that we haven't really brought anyone in to compete with him. Outside of Charles and maybe McClain I don't like our backs. I would like to see a young guy competing with Jones for playing time. Preferably a power runner which this team desperately lacked last year.

Cassel needs more carries. You heard it here first!

You are making the assumption that Blount and Clay where there for us to pluck while 31 other teams just sat back and watched.

But in the 3rd game I saw some good speed and hard running out of him. I'm not sure this BB is fair to Battle.

Is he gone? Really? When did they cut him?

Battle = preseason battering ram so starters don't get hurt.

I'm not defending him, mind you. But he has not been nearly as bad as this board makes him out to be. If he does get cut it WOULD be a sign of our improvement in that position.

He's slow and he fumbles. This borad is being extremely fair to him.

As has been said, he's basically out there getting beat up so the other guys don't.

He has only fumbled one this preseason. Prior to that I don't recall him having a fumbler reputation. I just don't get this notion.

I have always felt Battle was a decent back with good vision but not a lot of great athletic ability. He was suitable for a 3rd stringer. But if his fumbling continues, he will be looking for a job.

I seem to recall him having fumbling issues last year, as well. And he has fumbled more than once this preseason. Its just that he has only been credited for one lost fumble.

I've been in Jackies corner this whole time but, 3 games 3 fumbles. 2 in 1 game

When the talent level of the team resulted in 2-14 and 4-12 seasons, guys like Battle look right at home. But with the talent level of this team rising at most positions (we are still not all the way there) guys like Battle become expendable.

Really? Fumble issues last year? I'm not disputing you because at best I can use your wording and say I seem to recall no fumble issues.

This preseason, though, I think he has fumbled only once. The other two or three were caused by the ground.

There must be a website that addresses player stats like fumbles. I'm curious who's remembering better.
