Asked for a raise, didn't get it:

Career 4-3 backer, IIRC. I actually think he'd make a very good ILB in a 3-4, but he would probably be much more effective in DJ's weakside ILB role than Belcher's Ted role. I'm just not sure he has the mass or the attitude to play the strong side.

Does anyone think he'd be worth pursuing as a possible upgrade to Belcher? I think our Studebaker replacement is currently on the roster in Sheffield or Houston, but I'm starting to think looking for, at the very least, additional competition to push Belcher would be a good idea.

Briggs has three years remaining on the six-year, $36 million deal he signed in 2008. He is slated to earn $3.9 million this season, $4 million in 2012 and $6.5 million in 2013.

Hey Lance.....shut the fuck up and play.

Hey Lance.....shut the fuck up and play.

Also a reasonable response.

If there are any St. Louis Blues fans on the board, they can all tell you about Adam Oates and the fact that the sumbitch was NEVER happy with his contract. Every year he'd hold out, get a raise of some sort, then bitch about it the next season.

The Blues finally had no choice but to trade him, but the fans really started to hate the guy.

Briggs seems to be bitching ab out his check every offseason. Y'know what Lance? Fire your agent. If you're that constantly unhappy with what you're getting paid, perhaps you shouldn't be giving 5% of it to the guy responsible for securing said salary.

Isn't this the 9th or 10th time that Lance Briggs has held out or demanded a raise or something? He seems pretty whiny.

Trade for Briggs.

He's an upgrade over Belcher.

Belcher would make an good backup.

At least by adding Briggs you improve both the starting lineup and depth on your roster.

43 and 34 aside. I don't think we can afford the asking price on a trade. We'd be screwed and lose draft choices that have now seemingly started to be used wisely. So I say no. We should not consider trading for him.

whats his argument?

I leech off the successs and talent of Urlacher to boost my stats and thus I want more than a 36 million dollar contract?

And didn't he play the Chiefs like fiddle a few years back to get that contract from the Bears?

Yes, I don't see him being part of the right 53. Let the Bears keep him.

I'd rather have Pioli pick up the phone and offer Moss 8 mil for 1 year than pay Briggs 9 mil for 2 years.
