Something that has always caught my interest. I'm trying to find info that at least
LOOKS real/credible. If you are also intrigued by this subject. See what you can find.

That there are aliens I have no doubt. To believe that with all the planets in the galaxy that we are the only one that can support life is hubris. To believe that any civilization is advanced enough to overcome the obstacles of interstellar spaceflight is a bit more problematic. I personally believe there are races that have overcome the obstacles.

To believe that human beings are the only intelligent beings is beyond arrogance. Of course there is "something" out there in the galaxy. Is ET visiting us, thats not such a far fetched extropolation.

Now to take a leap of faith that they are kinapping humans and doing experiments on them on their spaceships. mulitaling cattle etc.... No, thats BS. If they are capable of space travel they are capable of dissecting us without a scapel.

There is unquestionably alien life in the universe. However it isn't here and it isn't stopping by where people can see it, especially folks in trailers. People do not understand the complexities of finding this meaningless planet. Its like being told there is a grain of sand on all the beaches of the world that is a very small diamond. Now find it.

There is nothing to point aliens here. Unless they are within 50 or so light years which is maybe 200 stars, then there is absolutely no way they would have any clue a semi-intelligent life form has evolved here.

I've always had the theory that we got technology from the Roswell crash. If you look at our leap in technology in the last 50 years, it's nuts how far we've come in so little time. Especially our aviation technology. We went from the Wright brothers to stealth bombers and other weird aircraft pretty rapidly if you ask me. Maybe my theory is stupid and/or wrong, I really don't know anything for certain. I usually don't believe in any conspiracy theories and stuff like that, but I do believe in life outside our planet, and I do believe we've seen and studied it.

Our technological leap is very well documented and certainly didn't come out of nowhere. And it's very unlikely that we would be able to reverse engineer any extra terrestrial tech anyway. That would be like giving a chimpanzee a combustion engine or a computer.

I certainly believe in intelligent life outside our galaxy. But going from there to saying they traveled light years across the universe and "crash" landed here is silly. Even if they did manage to get here, it would make more sense to send unmanned drones than little green men...

Maybe we did get unmanned drones or something of the sort that crashed here. We were smart enough as a species at the time to get technology ideas from something. The government has obviously been hiding something from the general population for a long time.

No not really. To be capable of interstellar travel, they would need hundreds or thousands if not millions of years of additional evolution and tech advancement. Now consider us today, going back in time a mere 200 years, and handing somebody on the street an iPad, or MP3 player. Do you think they would start making iPads in 1811? That's simply 200 years of our own technological advancement. You're talking about alien technology from worlds of unimaginable composition and unknown power source. Sorry Jeff Goldblum, it's just not that simple.

I don't know I think a big part of the leap in aviation was the second world war. I mean the world literally stopped everything it was doing and concentrated on developing and producing weapons for half a decade.

Like many on here have already said Yes i believe there is life out there.
To assume that we are it imo is insane and I hate getting into this conversation with people who dont believe around the old water cooler.

Not to go Trekkie on you but in one of the star trek movies you learn that the vulcans watched the earth for many many yrs and waited til warp engines were a reality before making their presence known.
I believe If we are being visited it is by beings that are far more advanced than we are(obviously).
To come down offer a cure for cancer offer so called warp tech not to mention the religious shock that would occur would devastate our society.
They know not to do this as we may someday when visiting other primitive worlds a thousand yrs from now.

I remember watching a recent interview by Bill Clinton where hes asked about the possibility that he truly knows after being president if there is proof aliens exist.
He said he can not and will not answer that.
Then he was asked right after are there things you learned as president that shocked you and that you can never talk about of matters such as these.
And he said yes.
The interview goes on and he doesnt deny that he knows the truth in fact he hints to the fact that he does know something but his hands/lips must stay tied on this matter.

Glad this was bumped.

Last night saw my first "shooting star."

The whole time I saw it probably wasn't 4 seconds but there was a long (12 inches across my windshield) trail of blue-green light, then a small explosion (like some type of firework where sparks shot out of it,) and then another 12 inches before it passed behind the trees.

I'd guess it was metalic, a meteor, satellite, etc. Just how fast it was moving rules out a flare or plane. It was beautiful and odd. I've never witnessed a "shooting star" so I figured it was something streaking, hitting the atmosphere, and then flaming out but the line of color after the "explosion" was just as fast and bright as it was before.

The SciFi movies portray deep space as empty, your starship just zooms through it for light years without hitting anything.

The Kuiper Belt would beg to differ...

Just going 6 light years in a straight line is impossible now for humans to survive.

Imagine if your starship, going really fast in space (not air), had to turn and avoid things like asteroids and gas pockets?

I believe in life outside of Earth.

I am just very skeptical that life can get here any more easily than we can get "there..."

Air flight has air to push against, to use to turn and accelerate. Space does not. To "turn" in space traveling very fast is not easy, not like Star Wars flying through the asteroid field. The other problem is that the "contact" need only be a pebble to cause major damage going 0.1 c or faster...

hitting a bowling ball sized rock in space going 0.1 would be completely fatal...

and if you can't get to 0.1 c, Alpha Centuri is more than 50 years away... assuming you don't have to turn to avoid anything.

The simple truth is that you can learn to swim because you can push against water. If you push against nothing...

You're right about the difficulties of maneuvering in space but it's not impossible, just takes thrust and overcoming inertial problems with occupants and the movement of the spacecraft in question.

Yeah.... if you're simply thinking in terms of normal propulsion known to humans at this point in time.

But what if an advanced species has overcome these trivial human physics issues due to several trillion years of further evolution? What if space and time can be manipulated in ways that we're currently unable to even consider?

And the "thrust" as we are able to do it now requires ejecting mass at very high speeds, and the mass of what is ejected relates to the mass of the total entity. In other words, if you have to "turn" a lot, it requires your ship to be mostly fuel to do it...

and the "turn or stop on a dime" at 0.1c... get real... it would crush everything inside the ship... and the ship...

Yeah.... if you're simply thinking in terms of normal propulsion known to humans at this point in time.

But what if an advanced species has overcome these trivial human physics issues due to several trillion years of further evolution? What if space and time can be manipulated in ways that we're currently unable to even consider?

I'm all for digging up Egypt to find the Stargate...

Warp Shields! Duh!

It's pointless to think of space travel in terms of the propulsion methods and flight characteristics of Earth bound craft. That includes the crafts we've briefly sent into space so far. You're limiting your options to outdated technology that wouldn't ever be used for deep space exploration.

Think of the human race a mere 200 years ago. How many would have argued fervently that it would be impossible to ever travel to the moon?

I've read that interplanetary travel will one day be possible through portals, or "looking glasses", mirrors that cut through space/time. One second you're here, then step through the mirror, and next you're there. The discovery and subsequent testing of the Higgs-Boson particle will fuel this.

I definitely believe life exist on other planets, however I don't believe aliens built the pyramids.

No they just designed and facilitated it. The manpower was totally terrestrial.

Just going 6 light years in a straight line is impossible now for humans to survive.

Imagine if your starship, going really fast in space (not air), had to turn and avoid things like asteroids and gas pockets?

That's why Gene Roddenberry created Force Shield.

Of course Aliens exist. Do you not have them in KS? I thought for sure they'd be at the meat plants in emporia.

Yep a space ship larger than Mercury itself LMAO

Look at confluence of the corona before it gets to Mercury and then notice its the last little bit of of swirl and fire.

At least if it was real they could give every one on earth a ride at the same time :)

Any lights, why? You do understand we can make out a license plate from space? With their advanced technology they could study us from Pluto. Any idiot that thinks lights in the sky iare aliens, is probably a Alex Smith fan.

Good man, logic for the win :thumb:How is there logic in believing there's no possibility extraterrestrial life exists in the same year we first discover an earth like planet in another star system? You can argue all you want about whether they could make it here or not, you're welcome to your theological choice there, but to deny life elsewhere could exist at all seems odd from a scientific perspective.
