View Full Version : Chiefs How long do you give Haley?

Clearly we had a rare off-season but was the impact of no OTA's delayed appearances at camp from Vets, etc. that impacting?

Most teams' performances last week say no. So why do we suck so bad? I admit I defended Haley in the first pre-season game. Other than that it's obvious his training camp was more yoga based than football based.

What's even worse...

Our two big signings on offense, McClain and Breaston hardly saw the field last week. Haley opted for the backfield of Dex and Charles instead of McClain and Charles. Powe was inactive and is again this week. Houston was hardly allowed to rush the passer last week. I'll cut the saftey situation some slack since Berry went down during the game.

But let's be real about what we saw. Unorganized, undisciplined, soft and scared. That's what we looked like. In our house! Against the Bills!

I'm not one for a quick axe on coaches but after what we saw last week I have no faith in Haley as a head coach. I expect to see more of the same this week as Detroit rips us a new one. This kind of an off-season is when a coaching staff shows their true metal. Ours showed us they couldn't keep up with the rest of the league when it comes to having a team ready to compete.

So, do you allow Piloli to let Haley slide this season or do you put him on the hot seat? Granted, a win today could change that outlook but I don't expect a win.

If we have a Herm year, he needs to go at the end of the season.

If this team fights hard and loses a bunch of tough games, I think he deserves another year, only without the anchor known as "Cassel".

Haley is good in my book until a bare minimum of the end of next year. The exception being, if his team just flat out quits on him this year.

I wouldn't expect a mid-season firing. But I do think there is a point in the season where you say "he's not coming back". I am just real disappointed in the way things have gone since the start of camp. It doesn't give the appearance of a coaching staff that had a plan and was able to execute that plan.

With the way this team prepared for the season, does Haley deserve to keep his job? Having the team prepared is job one for a coach. He failed that miserably.

Haley is not going into the final year of his contract a lame duck.

He will be extended at the end of this year or fired.

Considering the injuries I'm guessing he's extended if we win at least 7 games and look competitive.

How does Bill Muir "interim" HC sound?

I wouldn't fire Haley mid-season unless it got to where we were something like 1-11 or so with shitty, ugly performances. Still, I think Haley has to prove he isn't a fluke. His start this year, decisions that have been made are not promising for a coach who just came off of a playoff season.

We have not added any according to most. They hate to say it one or the other because then they might lose a person to blame if the wheels fall off.

I think the decisions in the last 2 pre-season games and the game last week are what have me on his case. I don't know what the game plan was but you are not going to succeed much when both Charles AND Dex are both in the backfield while the baddass FB you signed sits the bench for 57 minutes of the game. That's what disappointed me the most from an offensive standpoint last week. Along with the playcalling.

Yes we need to change coaches and staff more often than you do your panties.

Ok, everyone needs to but wtf.

Lets get a 4th OC in 4 years and fire anyone that does not win a SB in 2 years.

I think if he loses the locker room by the end of the year he could be gone. He took a gamble as a young head coach and erred too much on the side of caution and it cost them big time. I'd like to think he'd do things differently if he had to do it all over again. I'm still holding out hope that the team will be respectable.

I think it depends on the record. IMO if he wins less than 3-4 games he is a goner after the season is over. You shouldn't expect to go from 10-6 and a division winner to 3-13 and expect to keep your job unless you lose someone like Peyton Manning.

I could see Haley getting fired after the San Diego game if it goes badly. Returning home 0-3 with 3 straight blow out losses (actually 5 straight if you go back to last season).

Clark needs to find a way to get people to show up for the next home game.

What good would firing Haley do? Is that really going to make many of us happy? Would you be more likely to go to a game or at least watch on TV if Zorn was promoted to interim coach? Now benching Cassel for Stanzi would create some excitement, I think.

If Cassel starts every game this year Haley will be fired at the end of the season for two reasons. First, because of our record, and secondly, it tells you Pioli is not letting Haley bench Cassel. Either Haley or Cassel is getting thrown under the bus either during the year or after, and I think it deserves to be Cassel, but I'd bet on it being Haley.
