A man so annoyed by the volume of a TV in his home that he allegedly shot it out with a .44 Magnum handgun made his first court appearance Monday.

Daryl Lee Niklewas charged with one count of reckless endangerment, a Class C felony.

Police were dispatched to 2207 Seventh Ave. N. at 4:17 a.m. Sunday to investigate a report of a gun being fired.

UND police were first on the scene, and took Nikle into custody.

According to an affidavit, Nikle stated that the TV was too loud and he had asked three other people in the house to turn it down. Nikle stated that when the volume remained too high, he got his gun and shot the TV. The three other people were in the living room when the shot was fired.

Grand Forks police reported that the shot hit the TV and went through the wall. No one was injured.

Police recovered a Smith & Wesson .44 Magnum and six rounds from the residence.

Nikle’s bail was set at $2,000. He is due in court Nov. 14 for a preliminary hearing and possible arraignment.

Gee, I wonder if drugs and/or alcohol might have been involved.

Interesting. I need more information. If you blast a hole in your wall in your home, nobody is injured and you legally own the firearm, you're an asshole, but not a felon. If the cops were called though, I bet there's a little more to this story.

My wife would not call the cops. She'd probably kick my ass. But I'd never shoot my TV. So I don't know.

Need more info.

My guess is that it's hard to do that while guaranteeing that the bullet will stay on your property.

Unless of course firing a gun within city limits is illegal, which it usually is, along with firing a weapon within 200 yards of a structure.

Dude should invest in some Glaser safety slugs. Specifically designed not to penetrate walls. Contains the carnage.

If you absolutely, positively need to shoot up the interior of your home, accept no substitute. :bang:
