He's right about one thing, all Oakland really has is McFadden. I think we'll be able to contain him. The bigger problem for KC is our offense...as usual. I think we have a good chance, but it's the Raiders in Oakland and we don't have a great road track record. The Colts are not the Raiders.

We play the Raiders much better there than we do at Arrowhead. For all its reputation, that crap hole really isn't that tough of a place to play in.

Yep and they also have all that SPEED at WR. I look at the game last year in Oakland and think that KC could have easily won and ended it by halftime, but still managed to lose. So, I don't like their chances of winning out there.

The "Zebras" taking away a couple of TD's on lame brain calls was the only reason Oakland was in the game.

That and and a Cassel Pick in the end zone right before halftime and a D- Bowe drop for a first down late in the 4th quarter. Still, we let FKN Jamarcus Russel beat us - and he hadn't even completed a pass until that last drive...:shake: (I'm an IDIOT - Forgot that JM wasn't on the team BUT the point remains the same)
Back to your point - it was like the light switch was turned on and in a 3 minute stretch the refs said, "we're gonna even things up". I remember that KC got a return called back for a phantom block in the back early in the game. (Announcers said as much). Then Oakland returns a kick to start the 2nd half, clear HOLD (WWF TAKE DOWN) right in front of the refs, and NO CALL. I didn't get worked up because it was sooooo blatent and figured that it was coming back. I was absolutely shocked when I didn't see the flag. (Announcers were as well)
Still - having said that. KC could have won if D-Bowe catches that first down catch on 4th down late in the game. He was wide open and Cassel put it between the numbers. Drop...:banghead:
If we managed to lose THAT one, we can lose any. Maybe Karma will be on our side this year???

First off, we're going to win. I guarantee it. This is the Raiders we're talking about. Even without Al D avis they're going to shoot themselves in the foot.
That said, they're a matchup problem for us on the line. They have a big, strong line and that's not the type of line we deal with very well. Our interior line is designed to escort Jamaal Charles away from those guys, not to run them over with Jackie Battle. I think a key to this game will be, oddly enough, Dexter McCluster in the backfield avoiding guys and Matt Cassel hitting those quick slants to Dwayne Bowe so he can YAC it.
I'm not worried about their offense at all. We're going to murder them there.

I'm concerned that we'll stick to those quick slants too much and they'll pick 6 us. I agree about our defense. We'll take away DMC, IMO. The key is to kill the QB.

The Raiders haven't shown me in any of their games that they are that great. I am not saying the Chiefs are at all, but the Jets are showing that they aren't that good, so that win doesn't really hold the impact it did at the time it happened. Oakland didn't exactly handle CLE. Fake punt fluffed up the score.
Point is that if you handle DMC, you can handle the Raiders. I see them as capable of winning this game if Boller stays out of their way, especially since our team is missing Berry. It won't be easy keeping DMC down since the Chiefs love to let Division RBs go nuts. I wouldn't bet on this game because I think the potential results are all over the map. Not to mention the variables.

I think Clayton became defensive from all the times Sean Salisbury beat him down in their argument by getting Clayton to become flustered. Those arguments became very personal and I don't think he likes to be questioned anymore.

The Raiders are a much more physical team and (for unknown reasons) seem to love Greasy Al as much as we hate him.
They're motivated and they will probably push us around on the O/D lines.
I don't think we will but I think this is the perfect game to switch things up, bang it with McClain/Battle/Jones, try to make less mistakes and steal a win...

People still guarantee wins and losses in the NFL? It doesn't matter how bad an AFC West team is, or how good their opponent is. These AFC West games between the Chiefs and Denver, SD, or Oakland are typically really close. You can throw records, stats, and preconceived notions out the window. Especially when it comes to KC and Oakland. This is a 50/50 game if I've ever seen one, and anyone who doesn't see it that way is either drinking too much of their team's kool-aid. OR...they're just flat out dumb as a bag of hammers.

Yeah I wouldn't have them in either option I presented. To me there are teams that are good and missing a few pieces so their failures atleast have a chance of changing since they have a good team and need to tweak. Then there are the teams so horrible they have a good chance of getting talent via the draft. At the bottom are the .500 teams that don't have anything to build on and get nothing out of the draft.

So let me get this straight. In a game where the refs flagged Oakland 20 times, it was them that was given an advantage by the zebras.

The only reason you guys ever got into the endzone was because of the refs.
The phantom PI on Stanford Routt on third and long in the secon quarter directly led to your first TD. And a blown call on the fumbled punt by Nick Miller late in the 4th quarter led to your other TD. His knee was down before the ball came out. Replay showed it clearly. But whatever, you guys got the ball anyway.
If not for those two calls that game ends 17-3.

The other thing that Cassel struggles against is teams that can get pressure on him.
I fully expected that Dwight Freeny and Robert Mathis would get consistent pressure and hits on Cassel, and he would play like the Cassel that breaks records for futility.
That pressure didn't materialize.
If the Chiefs O-Line does as well against the Raiders in pass protect, then Cassel could have a good game.
If not, Brown Stain Dinker shows up.

2. Refs don't review the play when Ford uh-hum "caught" the pass that set up the tying FG to go into OT.
Ford never had control of the ball but the Refs didn't want to stop the game for a review because they had just reviewed a non-questionable catch the play before.

The biggest problem wasn't that Palmer only knew 15 plays. It was the dumbass coach who thought it would be a good idea to split the snaps in practice three ways and playing coy with who was going to start (including with the players themselves) instead of making every effort to get the guy who has been with the team all season as prepared as possible.

I think his point was that if it was ruled a fumble, then you can't advance it. So the Chiefs would have still had the ball on the 1/2 yard line and it would have been 3rd down. Not that it makes sense though.
