Fixed my car for $35 and a week of uncomfortable riding on the wife's motorcycle. Ford wanted $70 for the part and 3 hours of labor.

Likely not a big deal for the large majority of you but I typically go cross eyed trying to fix anything mechanical so I'm feelin real damn skippy right now. LOL

w00t!

/Now I gotta get my motorcycle back up and running.

Anyone here have any insight on what would cause the throttle on a motorcycle to turn with absolutely zero resistance? If I have the bike on and turn the throttle... I get no response.

Obligatory "low turn signal fluid" reply.

Aren't those operated via a cable?

You need more cable fluid.

They are but the cable is still attached and can see it move when I turn the throttle back and forth.

Could just be a plastic clip or something moving it tho.

Difficult for a novice wrench to give it a go or should I consider having someone do it?

Those are notorious for having bad gyroscopic spring rectifiers.

Braggart. I spent $400 before I fixed mine. IAC valve, EGR valve, MAP sensor.... MAF sensor finally fixed it.

swap the throttle cable; it's most likely snapped if you have no tension. probably got gummed up somehow.

once replaced, each season after winterzation when you're getting your bike road ready again, add 'lube throttle, brake, and clutch cables' to the 'to-do' list. quick and easy.

That seems to be the consensus from everyone I have spoken with. Now the question becomes... Do i buy an ecu upgrade for the car and settle for a stock replacement throttle cable or do I buy a new set of bars which will force me to buy longer throttle, clutch and brake lines.

I was just messing with ya. Congrats on the fix. It's always good to know you don't have to get raped by dealers sometimes.

I fix almost all my own stuff, problem is if you know how, you have to fix all your own stuff because paying for it seems rediculous.

Many times I had wished I didn't know how to fix something.
