Bears move on from veteran SS Chris Harris
Bears waived SS Chris Harris.
Harris was permitted to seek a trade prior to the deadline, but said he would stick it out in Chicago as a backup after finding no takers. He then started last week's game against the Bucs with Major Wright (hip) a late scratch. Apparently, the Bears have simply had enough. Harris was a second-team All-Pro last season, but has been getting abused in coverage this year. He probably runs 4.8 at this stage of his career, but could help a team capable of using him mostly on run downs. Harris has always been able to make plays on the ball with 12 forced fumbles and 15 interceptions in a seven-year career.

Sweet - another slow safety that works best in run support.

Speed is more important in cover 2. And, either way, it is much better than what we have.

Sounds like Sammy Knight.
We could do a hell of a lot worse, IMO.
I'd certainly bring him in. If nothing else he could be used in run support which would free Flowers up a little bit more in coverage and Kendrick Lewis could play more of a true CF-style free safety.
It's not ideal, but it's an improvement.

If we did see KC signing him, who would you guys think would get cut in order to make room for him. Unfortunately I don't see anybody in the secondary getting cut. Maybe Langford?

I'd take him over McGraw and Sabby. I'd feel a little better about a former Pro Bowler replacing Berry for the rest of the year.

Chiefsplanet flow------->
threadstarter: Hey, such and such a team cut somebody
everybody: sounds great let's sign him
responder: he's as slower than a raider's fan trying to put a square peg into a round hole
everybody: doesn't matter, he's better than what we've got, who do we cut?
