A Georgia man who said he was growing marijuana to treat his dog’s glaucoma entered a guilty plea in Jones County Superior Court last week.

Ollie Thomas Scarborough was placed on probation for five years for criminal drug possession. He was arrested May 18 after the Jones County Sheriff’s Department received a tip that marijuana was being grown near Scarborough’s residence.

Sheriff’s investigators Gerry Nelson and Robert Reece searched the forest surrounding the home and found 15 marijuana plants, some rooted, some in flower pots. When they followed a trail from the plants it led them to Scarborough’s residence on Alton Road.

Plans were made to set up surveillance, but when Scarborough arrived and was questioned by Nelson and Reece he admitted to them that he had been growing the plants – but not for himself: Scarborough said the massive stash of weed was grown for the benefit of his dog, who required an occasional puff to treat the symptoms of glaucoma.

The Sheriff's department should be on probation for five years for wasting tax payer dollars on that BS.

Also, it's a terrible idea to let your dog have his own lighter.
