Isn't New Madrid the biggest fault in the US?
The New Madrid fault systems extends 120 miles southward from the area of Charleston, Missouri, and Cairo, Illinois, through New Madrid and Caruthersville, following Interstate 55 to Blytheville and on down to Marked Tree, Arkansas. It crosses five state lines and cuts across the Mississippi River in three places and the Ohio River in two places.

The San Andreas Fault in California is about 810 miles long, and the Cascadi Fault just offshore from Oregon and Washington is about 650 miles long.

Preliminary from the USGS website is a 5.2, based in the same area in OK that's had earthquakes/aftershocks earlier today... but 5.2 is the strongest of the day so far. These things often change from the preliminary reports though.

Seems like it was an aftershock from this...

http://news.gather.com/viewArticle.action?articleId=281474980724985

The surprising 4.8 magnitude Oklahoma Earthquake early Saturday morning was felt from Oklahoma City to Tulsa and beyond. The other shocking thing is that the quake was followed by an astonishing 50 aftershocks, but most of those were not felt in the region.

In Prague, very near the epicenter of the Oklahoma Earthquake, a police dispatcher Claudie Morton said that the shaking felt like "roof was going to come off the police department." That must have been surprising especially at just after 2 in the morning when things are probably normally fairly quiet.

In all, the earthquake, which was the second largest in the state's history, caused minor damage and no injuries in the state. Several of the aftershocks came within the first few hours of the initial quake, and in all there have been at least 50 small aftershocks.

Many people throughout the region report being shaken awake by the unusual trembles. Were you one of them? Did you happen to have any damage to your property? As far as earthquakes go, Oklahoma is lucky to have never had the "big one" even though there is a fault line called the Wilzetta fault or Seminole Uplift. Will there ever be a bigger Oklahoma earthquake? Possibly, but hopefully not.

That was the 2nd earthquake I've ever felt. The first, a 5.0 in Toronto a couple of years ago, I thought I imagined it at first. This one, a 5.6?, I definitely recognized it while it was going on. Noticed my chair, laptop, and the walls shaking a bit.

Both pretty small, though, I guess.
