View Full Version : Chiefs Will the Week 12 Sunday Night Game remain as Steelers @ Chiefs?

Will this game be meaningful enough for the NFL to keep it as scheduled or will one or both teams stumble, causing the NFL to flex another game in? Or will the NFL schedule another game regardless of both teams being in the playoff hunt?

I voted but I'll worry about that game when we get there. Let's see how we do against the Donks and Pats first.

I completely agree with what you are saying, but the NFL will keep/schedule this game out by next Tuesday I believe. So I wanted to get an idea on how people are feeling before then...

This game will have implications. Not to mention, the last time we played the Steelers at arrowhead we upset them pretty severely....

I think we already decided this, not too much to choose from.

Worst-case scenario...the Chiefs will be 5-5.
That would still be a compelling game.

Buffalo at the Jets and New England at Philadelphia are the only games that would bump us. I assume the Patriots at Eagles have been protected. I can't find any info on which ganes have been and which have not, but if I recollect correctly a network (in this case CBS, since both Buffalo and New England are AFC teams) can only protect one in any given week.
If we blow this one against Denver, being flexed out for Buffalo at the Jets wouldn't suprise me at all.

DaFace posted in the other thread that NE @ Philly and Chicago at Oakland had been protected (I can't seem to find that info anywhere) so we only really have to worry about Buffalo at the Jetts

Personally, I'd be happy if every game was played at 10 am pacific time.

heh.

Amen.

With that said though, i think the game will stay prime time as long as we beat the Donks on Sunday. Both teams will still have something to play for, even if they drop one to the Pats.

I think it will impact the AFC West but maybe not Pitt

Really? With Baltimore beating them twice already and Cincinnati playing well. You're way off.

If the Chiefs manage to beat the donkey's and have a decent showing against the Patriots. Then YES they will show it!!!!!!!!!!!!

Also Buffulo plays the Jets that day, that's the game that will get flexed. Although NE is a possibility b/c the NFL announced yesterday that Pats-Colts (for the following week) had been moved from 7:30 to Noon.

The pats game won't even be in consideration as they will make the decision before that game is played. If we blow it and lose to Denver then I bet we get flexed. If we beat Denver then we are probably safe.

No impact on Thursday, Saturday or Monday night games.

The NFL will decide (after consultation with CBS, FOX, NBC) and announce as early as possible the game being played at 8:15 p.m. ET. The announcement will come no later than 12 days prior to the game. The NFL may also announce games moving to 4:05 p.m. ET and 4:15 p.m. ET.

Week 17 start time changes could be decided on 6 days notice to ensure a game with playoff implications.

On second thought, this will air, the league would need a better reason than KC to pull their beloved steelers.

Pats at Eagles is a protected game. Most likely to replace us if it comes down to that would be Jets vs Buffalo.

There is possibility unless its a national game that another team is shown here despite the fact KC is the closest AFC market. Keep the game. It should be a good one.

Regardless what happens to this game, it did my heart good to see an ESPN ticker late Tuesday night saying the Indy/NE game had been moved out of prime time.

I am not sure that there is a better game to move into the slot. Remember, CBS and FOX each get to "protect" a game from getting flexed. The schedule that week is slim on premium match-ups. The fact that the Steelers have a nationwide following will probably keep the game where it is at, and the Chiefs will be embarrassed on national TV. Just great.

Well, as bad as the team is, it will be hard to top the Colts getting embarrassed by the Saints.

This is a couple weeks old, but...

Week 12 (November 17):

Tentative game: Pittsburgh @ Kansas City
Prospects: 6-2 versus 4-3. Remember when the Chiefs were 0-3 and widely considered the worst team in the league? Suddenly, this game looks very good to keep its spot.
Protected games: Patriots-Eagles (CBS) and Bears-Raiders (FOX).
Other possible games: Thanksgiving weekend, paucity of good games (Packers-Lions is an especially bad loss). Bills-Jets and Bucs-Titans are the only good options, with Bengals-Browns a dark horse; of those, Bills-Jets is the best game and still isn’t as good as the tentative. After the protections, NBC isn’t left with very attractive matchups in terms of drawing power.

I can't really imagine Bills-Jets being moved in there, but who knows. Nothing else is really reasonable.

After these last two weeks, I beleive that the NFL should flex all of our remaining games to Tuesday's at 6AM.

They probably kept it because the better games got protected by CBS and FOX. The Steelers still hold "marquee" value. its also on a holiday weekend when viewership will be slightly lower than normal.

The time has finally come (actually it came last week prior to MNF) that I cringe and am disappointed that the Chiefs are going to be on prime time in front of a national audience.

Hope Mythbusters has a new episode Sunday night.

I think the Chiefs are going to beat the Steelers.

 Stop laughing. I'm serious. I think the Chiefs D is better than people think, and I think Palko will be more comfortable at home with one tough road game under his belt.

Chiefs 23, Steelers 20.

Steelers 35 Chiefs 9

Palko sucks and will kill any chance we have of winning...
