Looks like Sanchez and Cassel are circling the same drain.

Jets coach Rex Ryan has said that Mark Sanchez will be the starting quarterback in New York for as long as Ryan is the coach in New York.
That doesn’t mean Ryan is above holding Sanchez’s feet to the fire with motivational tactics. The Jets gave Mark Brunell some first-team snaps in hopes of motivating Sanchez, just like they did around this time last year.
“You know me. If I think something’s working, we’ll go with it,” Ryan said via the New York Daily News. “I don’t think it really matters, but for some reason he got a little hot under the collar and gave that super competitive fighting spirit that we know he has. It seems to work.”
Sanchez admitted last summer that he “wanted to fight” Ryan the last time he pulled this stunt. But it’s not that crazy an idea. Just like it’s not that crazy an idea to actually bench Sanchez at some point if he continues down this path.
More important than motivational tactics: The Jets have an advantageous schedule in the coming weeks. If they can’t beat the Bills, Redskins, and Chiefs in a row, then perhaps Brunell really should play.

Sanchez has sucked this year. I watched him live in Denver last week, we were sitting right behind the Jets bench.
He hung his head on every bad play and drive. He is not very resiliant.

Sanchez is the type of QB that hits a wall with the talent that he has and drops like a rock.

I agree. Kind of makes you wonder about Barkley, given the over-hyped QB's USC has spat out over these past few years. I watched him in the Stanford game and he looked solid, but yet, so did Sanchez a few years ago......

I have noticed that about him. He gets very down on himself and doesn't bounce back. Even in the press conference it seemed like a Sanchez pity party.

That's a shame. Has all the tools. Can complete short to intermediate passes on a rope. Fairly accurate. Can't win games.

The difference this year is they can't run. Sanchez will always be mediocre at best. I was never saddened that we missed out on Sanchez. As bad as Cassel sucks I think he did more than Sanchez would have.

FLORHAM PARK, N.J. — It hasn't turned to blows, but New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan said that quarterback Mark Sanchez isn't talking to him after snaps were taken away from the three-year starter on Tuesday. Veteran back-up Mark Brunell received less than a handful of plays with the first team, but Ryan observed that was enough to send Sanchez into a snit.
Brunell estimated that he "got four plays out of the 40 we ran" during Tuesday's practice.
According to Ryan, it was the first time this season that Brunell has been mixed in with the starters, causing the Jets head coach to say that Sanchez "is not happy with me."
Ryan judged this displeasure "By his body language. He hasn't talked to me, for real. He has not said one word." When told about those comments, Sanchez laughed it off.
"No not at all, at least not on purpose," Sanchez said.

Sanchez is making me feel better about Pioli's 2009 disaster draft.
