How Was Your Thanksgiving?

I went to the same place I've gone every year since getting married (17 years now) to a little town Northeast of Manhattan,KS called Frankfort, KS. It's on KS hwy 99, south of US 36. The routine is: 50 or more people in a two bedroom farmhouse, meal at noon, touch football on the high school field at 1:30, pie at 3pm, head home around 4:30pm.

No TV, so I listened to the Green Bay/Chicago game on 810 -their signal booms in the daylight hours- and fell asleep in the la-z-boy. I'm too old to play football anymore. Learned my lesson a couple years ago. Play for an hour, nurse a sore hamstring for three weeks after. Let the kids have the fun now.

I really like Frankfort. Everybody has been really nice to me there, although I'm the only Mizzou Tiger in the family. The rest of the family is pretty much an even split between KU and K-State.

It was ok. Went to the grandparents house like we always do. Had a big "dinner" at 1 o'clock for about an hour, then went home and took a 2 hour nap. Damn turkey. Then I woke up and watched some of the Ravens/9ers game, watched some Seinfeld, played some Skyrim/Bioshock/Zelda til about 2 am. It was a nice calm lazy day.

I was 1 of 3 people at the bar. So I had the place to myself.

I had second round of turkey/taters/cranberries (the holy Thanksgiving trilogy) and watched the SF-Baltimore game. It was a good game, fell asleep right afterwards, woke up about midnight, turned off the TV and then slept today till 9:30. That's what makes America great!

I took two naps, watched a little football in between, made taco salad and went to a high school basketball tourney in the evening to see my daughter do her pom pon routine. Damn near perfect.

went pretty well. mother-in-laws for dinner. turkey, home made noodles, etc. finished it off w/a piece of pecan pie. everyone started playing cards and other games. i went home and hit the recliner(knee's kinda jacked up).

work today

tomorrow, big brother's coming in from florida. gonna stop at our place for a couple days on their way to omaha. we'll drink, and let our wives make fun of us.

I ate some turkey and fixin's (had some excellent pumpkin pie with homemade crust and real, fresh whipped cream on top). Sat by the lake for awhile. Made scary faces at some squirrels. Watched a little crappy football. Decided to write a 3-act musical/play about Jim Morrison. Worked on a new invention I call, "The Orange Peel Attack Device".

All in all, a good day. Didn't get arrested and at no point was I forced to wrestle a full-grown chimpanzee.

I don't get them ripped from my skull until Monday, Mr. seclark ... the 28th. So in the meantime, we're spending a lot of time together in order that, after they're gone, we will always have those memories to fall back on.

Seriously, though. I am not ... at all ... looking forward to this. As of now, I'm trying to decide if I should have all 4 taken out (per my dentist's recommendation) or just go with 2. The fact is that only 1 is bothering me, but I don't want to be un-even. Honestly, I don't know which way to go on that particular point.

Went to my girlfriend's dad's TG in Cameron. Ate a whole bunch. Died slowly on the couch for about an hour. Went to my dad's TG in Savannah. Too much driving. Proceded to eat a bunch of dessert until I felt like I was going to die. Drove back to Platte City.

Died on the couch for a while. Played GOW3 for a bit. Watched Hoosiers. Pie break in between. Watched Edward Scissorhands. Slept from 1 until 11 AM. Woke up feeling awesome.

wife just called. her and the daughter strung the lights up on the front of the house. they don't know where to plug in all the cords...wtf??? you should be able to plug them all into each other and just plug one into the outlet. i have no idea what the hell they're doing. i told them i'd do it tomorrow, but oh no...gotta have them up today. no telling what kinda fuckin mess is waiting for me.

Had a great dinner then went out to the p&l district and then went home to drink. Played a 'strip' card game and we all ended up naked about 2am. Then had an orgy type thing until about 8am. Slept till 2 when the kids came back and had turkey at the inlaws. Then played football at my family's thing and sprained my ankle a little. Hurts pretty bad but I'm hoping it'll be good for work monday. Will be resting all weekend.

A lot of times, the people of New Swabia are just standing around or hanging out doing nothing particularly special and they freeze solid for no reason at all ... except for it being cold and all. Then, when that happens, they just leave you standing there all frozen and junk because you're now considered bad luck.

They say that, during a conversation in New Swabian, you are supposed to nod your head a lot to subtly confirm to the other person that you haven't frozen up yet. It would be bad if you were a narcoleptic down there. A guy could easily be confused with a frozen guy when he's just taking a short nap.

New Swabia is pretty darn fascinating, really.

Crime is almost non-existent in New Swabia ... unless you count talking visitors and tourists into licking mailboxes and light poles. Shuddering is the National sport. And, it's the only country in the world where the snowflake serves as both the National Flower and Bird. They has a flag once, but it broke.
