I am not saying the old astroturf but the new stuff that looks like grass but not really.

I am just tired of our field always looking like total shit. Especially on nationaly televised games. Perhaps it is fitting though, the team looks like shit so why not the field?

It is a patch of dirt and some grass... it is called a field and not a god damned garden for a reason. It is torn up because men have been playing a men's game there and those are its battle scars.

Criminy, next we can talk about what color accents should be added to the players helmets and how we can improve on the banners posted around the endzone.

When Green Bay went public way back in the day it worked well because only people in the community bought stock, so the team is now owned by the workmen of Wisconsin and not the Hunts of the world who don't care about winning.

If a team today went public some billionaire would come in and buy most of the stock preventing the fans and the city from buying it. Think of the recent occurrences in the English Premiership League where previously perennial bottom dwellers of the soccer league have been bought out by billionaire owners and the culture of those teams has been remade after being infused with millions of dollars to acquire players and millions more remaking the club's image (i.e. advertising, improving stadium and field).

Bad news is we wouldn't get to buy the team. Good news is someone who loves the team just as much as us and is willing to spend their money to make the team good is. You can bet that either with a billionaire owner who wants to win or a publicly owned team you could expect great changes.

You could set restrictions on the percentage of stock that any person could own, also requiring that they live within a certain radius of the team. Have them elect representatives to the board, to function similar to the way that the Packers do.

Not sure where you could move the Chiefs to where they would make more money than KC? Running out of cities where teams could be financially successful. Other than LA of course, but they will probably get another franchise soon.

Funny this thread came up.

I was watching the Chiefs game a couple weeks ago when they were at home and just thought "Man that field looks like sh!t". There's not even grass. All I could see in the camera shot was dirt.

Might as well be the same thing the Raiders play on.

The Chiefs needed to switch to field turf several years ago. It probably would be safer and we'd never again talk about how sh!tty the field looks.

Well I'm not sure we have real grass... Once they paint it green (meaning going past the lines and logos), it's not real IMO.. So make the grass "right" or get rid of it... It's like last night, what the hell was going on in the southeast corner of the field?? They couldn't even get the paint matched.. Then the plywood planks were just awesome to look at (in the same area)...

****ing concrete would look better than the crap we have on there now.

Other cold weather cities manage to have nice looking natural grass fields. Why does ours always look like crap?

Because squeaky Clark cheapskate Hunt only budgeted $100 a week and two illegals to keep the field in shape

It raises another question:

How much time and community effort would be required to shame Hunt? Would it even be possible to shame them into selling the team, and if you were to go about attempting to do so, what would be the best methods?

Hunt can't be shamed into anything unfortunately.... He's a money-grubbing piece of crap who learned from his father that ALL THAT MATTERS IN LIFE IN MONEY MONEY MONEY... Silver market baby, SILVER MARKET!!!! They have never cared about KC and never will. Keep tens of millions of dollars rolling into their bank accounts during times like this and they won't change a GD thing...

They love to play certain PC cards like this AM's "Harvesters" card, and you realize they'll only do enough to be able to claim "they're trying". And he's business savvy enough to know that this city will always bow to HIS wants, and he'll always win - skroo the people. Just like him having paid for his half of the renovations by simply not paying to the cap for X number of years.

Did I mention that Hunt was a piece of crap? He's a bigger whore than the many hookers he "does" on his jet!

Hunt's a piece of crap, as is the entire family, and they can kiss my ass all day and night because we won't ever be able to get them out of our lives.

Plywood?

Yeah... Along the edge of the stands (near the the tunnel), they had some 10-15 planks down to cover the mud I guess. Stunning... The same SE corner that had the off-color grass...the SE corner of the endzone...

I should of taken a picture...

Stunning!!

OK, Sandy Eggo's field is grass, sorta looks like shit, but is better than ours... Maybe, just maybe, their weather helps...

This is the most homosexual thread I've ever seen on here! Footballl is a man's game. Those of you who care what the field looks like should be out hitting the holiday shopping with your boyfriends. You are all undeserving of the title 'men.' Grass... real grass, mud, snow. Real elements, that is football as it was meant to be played.

tell that to the Pey Pey homers on here.

I called hiim a p*ssy for playing in a dome his whole career and pointed out how his most memorable snow game was against a 4-11 bills team after the colts had homefield wrapped up and uncovered the fact that the league only scheduled him to play in 15 post Thanksgiving cold weather stadiums in 12 YEARS.

You'd have thought i started WWIII.

The plywood was to cover the mud for the sideline for all the traffic in that part of the stadium.

I think we know that, but it's still rediculous... Hey, good grass is the best, but bad "painted" grass is just embarrasing.

If you think Arrowhead should have anything other than a natural playing surface you are smoking too much of this.

If they'd tend to the Arrowhead grass like 'they' tend to "that" grass, then we wouldn't be having this conversation...

Yes, this. I'm surprised they never did it as part of the renovations.

Chiefs use bermuda grass at Arrowhead which is why they have to paint it. They need to get a more Kentucky blue grass blend with it Imo. Personally i would just go to field turf.

Have you compared his starts in cold weather stadiums to every other QB in a domed home stadium that plays in a division of warm weather teams.. I mean seriously.. He plays in the AFC South..

I think you are letting your anger get in the way of facts...

Most of the season is gone post Thanksgiving.. That means he will have 2-3 away games each year after that point..

Most of those games in the past would have been against divisional rivals.. Hence not many games against cold weather teams.. Seems to me he has averaged one+ cold weather away game a year out of the few they get..

Does not seem to far off...

Grass is WAY better. Field turf, while it's nice, has been linked to increased incidence of knee injury in adolescents. Not sure if that translates up to adults, though.

I'd rather have a grounds crew that can take care of real grass. If we're just going to be cheap about it and not pay one, then give me field turf.

Looking at it tonight its not different paint its new sod . Down the middle of the field and se corner they pit new sod in which is natural grass color while the outside is painted.

Well I know I'm falling on the side to turf-grass, but sir....you make a very good point... How about this, they don't paint the turf until right before the game, and we enjoy the paint stains???
