I am trying not to read too much into this.

The first thought that comes to mind is that Haley really likes Palko, which is what I have thought all along. I didn't think it was a move by Pioli to keep Palko. I thought it was Haley choosing him.

The second thought comes to mind is that if Palko is starting over Orton after these last two games, then we cannot read anything into what Stanzi is or isn't. Clearly Haley will continue to start guys he likes even when there is a better player waiting.

Now, admittedly, I think Orton is mediocre, but mediocre is better than Palko. It has only been a week. If Palko starts and has another horrible game and Orton doesn't come in.... Pioli won't have to worry about firing Haley. No one will be able to find where I buried him.

(For the KCMO police department, FBI, etc.... the last line is a joke. I live in Atlanta and I am not wasting the gas to drive up there and kill him.)

Well what are the chances that we have for Barkley or RGIII? I know that Seattle, Miami, Washington, and us are all in the hunt. Classic style.

Here's the deal: while I agree that we need a first-round QB, I don't think it's set about where we need to be in the round, necessarily. Rodgers is a good example of this. Packers were far from being in "prime position," yet ended up with an unbelievable stud.

The draft falls in wacky ways. I'm not entirely convinced that Luck is God's gift to QBs, so, even if we somehow find ourselves at #10 overall, I think there's a decent chance of a high-quality QB being available at this pick.

...at which point Pioli will pass because we have Cassel.

Simple.

Turn on Sunday Ticket, watch another game.

And even if I were forced to watch it, I'd gladly trade 5 more games of shit for a much higher draft pick.

Winning one or more of these last 5 doesn't help this organization - it only hurts it.

No fucking way would it be possible to totally watch another game while the Chiefs are on. I have gotten into temporary channel surfing though, it is getting easier.

I'm at the point of completely giving up any idea that I can figure out what this team is going to do. Nothing they do with the QB makes any sense at all.

I've decided to just go with "God/the universe/fate/whatever hates the Chiefs fans". It hasn't let me down yet. :D

We have a quarterback problem for one reason and one reason only; we have no quality quarterbacks on the team.

Except possibly, for Stanzi, who is a complete unknown, was denied the benefit of an off-season and a training camp, and has never taken a regular season snap in the NFL.

So long as there is a mathematical chance to make the playoffs, they have no choice but to try and eke out a victory. It's really that simple and crying won't make it any better. Not this year.

What makes you think that Pioli isn't completely onboard with the old "intentional, untentional walk"? They can keep starting Palko and claim that Orton isn't ready, lose a few more games, lock up a top 5-8 pick, draft a QBOTF, cut ties with Cassel, and start Orton next year. Meanwhile, when people are asking for Haley's head... Pioli can just point at all the injuries and spout off some shit about only being one year removed from a division title...

Hey if the Colts can do it, why can't we?

Because some fans here would rather win 5-6 games total and finish middle of the pack as far as draft picks go.

Then we could recommend picking a LT (the in thing every year), get pissed when the good QBs are taken before we pick.

Then get pissed because we don't give up half our draft to move up (although if we did that, they would be pissed with that).

We continue to be average at best and defend the next career back up or washed out QB that is inevitably brought in thinking if we could just get an all world O-Line he will lead us to the SB.

We will realize that yet again he can't and we will continue in our playoff futility until our core players get old or move on.

We will repeat the QB cycle and blame Pioli because of the team's playoff failures.

We will continue the endless circle of playoff mediocrity that has plagued this organization for over 40 years indefinately.

But hey, at least we started Orton against Chicago and he led us to a victory. :thumb:

Palko has started two games, turned the ball over 7 times and accounted for zero TDs.

While WE all understand that winning games at this point is probably counterproductive, do you REALLY want Pioli to retain a coach that would WILLINGLY continue to play Palko instead of Orton?

At this point in the season I wouldn't care.If we were 7-4 and in the playoff hunt I would think differently. I see no point in winning anymore games this year and I would rather us lose out. Indy has no issues with it and they will end up with Luck. We will win 4-6 and be hoping for our QBOTF. If we miss him because we started Orton against Chicago when there was absolutely nothing to gain, I would be pissed. The same fans who are eager for Orton to play would be too when the season is over and the short term "high" of a win has worn off and reality sets in. Remember how ecstatic some were when we beat Minn? How bout Indy? Or Oak? Or SD? It felt good to win at the time, but now reality has set in and it all but screwed our chance at Luck.

We are still dangerously close to missing out on RGIII and Barkley without a trade up which I don't see this team doing. If this team does not realize that we need a QB then they all need to be removed. The message coming down to Haley should be to lose out as the season is shot. Anything less than focusing on a QB in this years draft and doing whatever it takes without jeopardizing it's future is short-sighted indeed. If that means we start 7 TO in two games Palko then so be it. Had Cassel been healthy we most likely would have still lost, so what's the difference between losing with Cassel and losing with Palko. Both suck and our offense was inept under both. Orton is not the savior everyone thinks he is. He shouldn't even be on this team as he does nothing for us.

that's all well and good, and i agree with all of it.

i think what htismag is concerned with is the fact that Haley SHOULD be on the hot seat (to put it mildy) and SHOULD be trying to win as many games as possible by the end of the year to hopefully keep his job.

The fact that he is starting a 0 TD 7 INT QB in the next despite better options tells us he's not concerned with winning. Which, from a draft and QBOTF standpoint is good. But from a Coaching Accountabililty standpoint, is f*cking horrible, cause it means Pioli's probably guaranteed Haley his job next season and is encouraging starting Palko to lose, wouldn't make sense otherwise.

Too bad Egoli and Haley weren't as smart Colts Owners and Caldwell and just tanked the season for Luck. To anyone who thinks I'm crazy for suggesting the Colts are losing on purpose answer this : WHY DOES CALDWELL GO 0-11 AND STILL HAVE A JOB?????

If he's going to get fired....it'll be after this season.

Maybe but maybe not. There were rumors he was going to be fired if we lost the Indy game. I'm not saying Romeo would be on my list of coaches but I could see Pioli giving him a few games to be the HC this year and making him the coach next year.

I have been in Haley's corner since his hire and think he is a master motivator and a personality that fits a young, developing team very well.

That said, as soon as Cassel went down (before Orton was claimed), I posted that if Palko straight up sucks and Haley keeps him in without moving on to Stanzi that is not any better than "the Cassel problem" and it would change my opinion of him.

That is absolutely happening.

Palko should have been sat the fuck down during the first game and cut during the week leading up to the Pittsburgh game and it was absolutely inexcusable for him to have started AND finished the last game.

Now, he is gonna start ANOTHER game?

Fuck that.

I dont care if they go to Orton or Stanzi (even though its obvious who he will go to) but there is no fucking way any smart man would keep trotting FailCo out there and expect us to believe its being done so with good judgment.

I too have been a Haley supporter, but starting Palko for three, let alone one game is throwing in the towel. There comes a time when you leave conventional wisdom behind. I don't care that Orton is new to the playbook, or is a little behind. I KNOW he stands a better shot at winning than Palko. Orton most likely had a better chance at winning last week after being here two days. If Haley doesn't think so he probably needs to go.

Ill also contend that Haley took JCs game to the next level as well and that his early treatment of him (due to fumbling) was highly effective as JCs # of rushes per fumble and YPC and YAC have all significantly improved over the last 2 and a half years.
