RIP John Winston Lennon

Do you remember what you were doing that evening?

I was Barracks Rover Watch at Great Mistakes, Illinois watching MNF when Cosell made the announcement. Everyone stopped dead in their tracks. To you Mark David Chapman: I hope you rot in that prison and never are released.

I was in a crib not giving a fuck about John Lennon and more worried about when someone was gonna come by and change my diaper.

i was at my inlaws when it came on the news. about 3 minutes after it was announced my father-in-law caught his son cheating at pitch and everything went fist-city. i laid my cards down and walked outside singing "give peace a chance" under my breath.

I remember being a kid and not really understanding it.
Years later I saw an interview with the guy who shot him, and the guy said he met John Lennon shortly before he shot him. He said he expected Lennon to be some big phony, but Lennon was nice to him and seemed like a genuinely good guy. But he shot him anyway. Fucking asshole.

I was still living at home and laying in my bed watching MNF when Howard broke the news.Later that week I wrote a poem about John for my creative writing class that started...

I read the news today oh boy
About a man,a husband,a father,a legend

Not to mention by far the Greatest Musical Genius of the 20th Century. And it isn't even close.

Very Telling that Maroon 5 decided to do a couple songs in Lennons honor earlier this month.

Pinko

Speaking of pinkos, Diego Rivera has a painting on Google Search right now.

What a wonderful world it would be, if instead of profit we focused on love, instead of bills we focused on Mother Earth and how to sustain her for future generations, instead of possessions we focused on people. You might say I'm dreamer....

Q: You know what would reunite the Beatles?

A: Two more bullets.

Honestly there is no one in music past or present that I get too bent out of shape about. Not happy or sad that he was murdered, but I certainly don't put Lennon's murder in the same category as say, the Challenger disaster ("where were you when it happened?")

My brother's girlfriend asked "Did John Lennon just die?" today. I'm gonna start a thread about her one day soon....
