Anybody watching this? CRAZY. Blows being THROWN. Cinci won't leave the court AT Xavier. Holy crap.
EDIT: Video, though it doesn't really show the entire situation, which was that it was a HUGE brawl and tense for much longer than most fights. Afterwards, Cinci stayed on the court- even after the game was called- and were jawing the crowd. The fight happened RIGHT in front of the Xavier fans and I kept wondering if they were gonna get involved. Sounds ridiculous, but that's how tense it was.

Funny thing is, it was instigated by Xavier. But Cinci definitely didn't let it die, that's for sure.

Wow, the judge was really harsh on this one. He just sentenced three of the guys to play for the Clippers for three to five years.

There were a number of punches caught on tape. Because they reshowed it like 10 times afterwards, there are all sorts of angles. I'm still looking for the other punches Gates threw. another guy stomped on the white guy.

I guess if the question is just "was it a cheap shot?" then yes. But -- and I'm not disagreeing with you here -- that guy was stupid for being in the middle of all of them. Dummy.

Not only that, but Frease wasn't throwing punches or being overtly aggressive....looked like he was just trying to create separation between the two teams. Gates decided he could take a shot at him from the side because he's just a punk, plain and simple.

Oh I don't remember the players that were interviewed. I think it was that Tu kid and Lyons. They talked about being disrespected and shit. Actually said out loud that his team was full of gangsters. And went on about if they get in your face you have to do something about it.
Basically no remorse for one of the worst basketball brawls in a long time and spent the whole time justifying it.

Sort of a Catholics vs Convicts thing. X has had some really good basketball players come through there over the last 25 years, as has Cinci.
X fans hated Huggs, and since they are both located in Cinci, it's been a hellacious rivalry. I've seen some good scuffles in years past but nothing like today's melee.
