There is unfinished business left for this man. McCluster would be played the right way and our running game would be unstoppable.

Wow

This guy knows what I am talking about. DJ never got to thrive under a coach like Vermiel. He knows talent when he sees it. Either Vermiel or Holmgren or my chiefs card is going to be turned in for good. These are super bowl winning coaches that are like old sages of the NFL.

1. Couple DV with Crennell's defense and you've got a good point.
2. Was the offense DV's baby or Saunder's?

Other than QB, we have the pieces for a really good offense. If Crennell will stay on as DC, we could really use a creative offensive mind. What do we know about Zorn?

Guess he really wants to win his heat for Douche of the year.

Zorn would be better off cutting down trees in an aids forest. Saunders is a joke

I repeatedly got blasted for suggesting we bring back Vermeil after the Haley firing a few weeks ago.

I'm telling you, Goodell is gonna ban defenses from hitting the QB (he suspended Harrison already). Vermeil's offenses could outscore anyone.

I'm all about bring him back, him and Goodell see Eye To Eye on the NFL's biggest issue : Defense Schmefense.

Agreed. Maybe even hire a guy like Bill Maas to come in and get the Dline playing right.

It was definitely Vermeil more than Saunders. Look what Saunders did on his own in the league. Exhibit A: Washington.

Isn't Mike Martz a Dick Vermiel incarnate? Just hire him as OC. And I am not saying I want that, just saying it would be similar.

NO....GAWD NO. Vermeil's genius was his ability to manage the team. Martz is a disaster in that area. A head coach is less about X's and 0's and more about big-picture planning and management of coordinators and personnel. This was Haley's downfall in my opinion. He struggled at managing. Though I don't want grandpa cry-baby coming back, the OP is on the right track in us needing a guy that can really manage, organize and delegate (without abdicating). I could care less if the guy was a good coordinator.

As much as I love the idea of Vermeil returning, he is too old.

However even the most fanatical anti-Vermeil people on this board have to admit that Vermeil's 2005 team (his final year in KC) would destroy any Chiefs team since (including last year's fraud team).

I don't get the hate for Vermeil. He gave us the most exciting Chiefs team of all time to watch. Yes, his drafts and defense were terrible and it fucked us after he left, but we had one of the best offenses from last decade.

but with that being said, the job is Romeo's, he deserves it and we need some continuity.

No he doesnt and what continuity does this team have?

Cassel and Orton? ROFL

Jones and Battle?

Lilja, Wiegman and Richardson?

Belcher?

Where is all this continutiy you speak of? The offensive success? The historic defensive blowouts?

The 5 year losing streak to Oakland at home?

At some point people you have to give up and realize that this is a badly ran football team...

Would love to have Vermeil back. He's like 85 isn't he..... Would love it. Vermeil at the helm.... Romeo running the defense with the defense we will have next year.... minus Cassel with whatever quarterback you choose besides Palko..... serious contender. If only.......

Bring back Vermeil, draft a QB, and convince Kurt Warner to come out of a retirement for a year. In all seriousness, our Sagarin power rating in Vermeil's worst year probably is better than in any year since he left.

whatever, his defense is the only reason we won any games this season. He deserves it, he did a great job as DC.

ya, if you put Romeo back to DC and got Vermeil back, we are winning a superbowl in the 2nd year.
