I'm ready for Round 2. The first rounds of these things always suck until the crap gets eliminated.

There was one round with 5 great shows, and many others with one or two.

My thoughts:

#1 - Third Rock from the Sun. There were some hysterical moments in this series. Lithgow was great, and I liked that weird squinty guy, too. This show is better than it got credit for.

#2 - Mork and Mindy. When I was 13 I thought this show was incredible. I saw one episode about ten years ago and either my tastes were undeveloped back then or the show did not age well. I'll still throw it a vote, though.

#3 - Green Acres. Classic fish out of water comedy, done well for the most part. I bet many of us can sing the theme song right now, too.

Didn't make the cut.

#4 - The Monkees. I hated not voting for this, but at the same time it's not in the top three. It was fun and goofy, but that didn't always work. As an aside, my favorite line from a Monkees show was once when they were all standing around and a woman screamed loud and long. One of them said, "What was that?" Another one said, "I think it was a C Sharp." I found that funny for some reason.

Larry Sanders Show. I always heard good things about it from the rich people who had HBO, but I was a member of the working class.

Yeah, there's not a lot of gold being filtered out in Round 1. But at the same time I never would've guessed that such gems as Just Shoot Me, ALF, and Mary Tyler Moore would end up on the cutting room floor.

I want to state Green Acres is an under-rated show. Great cast, including Arnold Ziffle.

Third Rock and Green Acres. Both very absurd.
I think Green Acres works on an unter-the-surface level, as well.

3rd Rock
Green Acres

On this we agree.

Perhaps some sort of "Round 1 Losers" poll is in order where all the losers go into one and the top 5 move on or something. I know you probably randomized things, but it definitely seems like there have been some great heats and some real clunkers.

Hmm. Maybe throw all of the Round 1 losers in and let the top two or three back into the tournament? I could possibly be talked into doing that.

That said, none of the ones eliminated will be in the top three by definition, but if it could wring a little more fun out of the tournament I can do it.

Hey, hey we're the Monkees,
and people say we monkey around.
But we're too busy singing,
to put anybody down.

Worst show ever.

But I enjoyed their music.

And Green Acres.

He wanted to move to the country, but she was the one who adapted and seemed far happier that he ever was.

Loved the show.

Their music was so bad, that one of thier hits in the 60s was remade 30 years later, almost exactly as it was originally sung by them, and was a hit again.

Green Acres is an absolute classic. One of the most bizarre sitcoms ever.

My music trivia knowledge is letting me down, which song?

Did they write it?

I'm surprised Larry Sanders isn't doing so well? It was pretty much universally well liked during the 90's if not the best reviewed. I guess because it played on HBO it wasnt widely viewed and doesn't air in reruns.

I assume he's talking about "I'm a Believer", written by Neil Diamond. Gave Diamond a #1 hit before he ever had a song in the top 100 himself.

Yeah, I seriously doubt it would affect the final outcome, but really, the journey's more fun than the end with these things. It seems fair that a show that, theoretically, might have been #4 overall should at least get another chance.

Thanks, just proves my point that the Monkees didnt write their own songs... neither did Elvis, but thats another story.

I actually liked their goofy show as a kid though.

I don't know who writes the songs.

I thought that it was Barry Manilow.

I only voted for Mork & Mindy and Green Acres in this heat.

Mork's first season was very entertaining. It went downhill fast after that, except that Pam Dawber continued to look good.

Green Acres was a marginal vote. I liked it better than Petticoat Junction or Beverly Hillbillies.

I probably should have given the Monkeys my last vote, but I didn't. I didn't watch either of the other two.

That's probably the way it should work, but if Alabama can win the national championship, one of the shows from the losers bracket can come back and win it all.

Surprised that Third Rock from the Sun is trailing this heat.
