Anyone else get these? I usually get them every couple of months or so, but have had three in the last two weeks. Pain in the ass, they are.

Yes, helps prevent drive-by buggery.

Yep...Like you, I get them a couples of time a Month...But like the article says, they go away after about 20 minutes. I had my first True Migraine when I was 15, have had these Ocular ones ever since. My mom has a history of these too. My Daughter had her first one when she was 16.

Yeah. Bout once a month as well. But it varies with my stress level. If I'm under lots of stress, it can increase the frequency quite a bit.

Mine starts out with a loss of vision. I describe it as if I were directly facing a clock, everything from 8:00 to 12:00 in my field of vision is just gone. Like a huge blind spot. That's the onset. Then the blind spot is replaced by a trippy strobing green/yellow fractal aura that's kind of the shape of South America. There's actually little pain up to this point, but I know it's coming. Then after about 30 minutes, that goes away, and the brutal pain sets in. I get very very sensitive to light, sound, and touch. Just get the fuck away from me and leave me alone.

First time I got one, I was like 11-12 years old. I straight up thought I was dying. The pain was much worse as a kid. Now days the pain varies. But it can still put me down for the day on occasion.

There's lots of different meds you can take for them. But in my experience, what works for one person won't work for another. I've tried 6 or 7 different meds. Currently just use Imitrex.

That's the straight truth. Sadly, Mary Jane is the absolute best migraine medication you can get.

Yes - I get one to three a year but can go a year or more without. Never had any pain, but the last two have caused a dull headache, minor nausea, and sensitivity to light for two or three days afterwards. Mine tend to come on when I'm either stressed, or run down from lack of rest. Also it seems that fluorescent lights can increase the likelyhood.

I never get the headaches, no pain at all in fact. Just the annoying vision thing.

Yeah, I get them.

About 30 minutes before the most killer and cripping brain melting headache you can imagine, my vision gets really goofy.

I was going to say, it sounds like you guys have "migraines with aura". I had one when I was in high school. It started off as little black dots/blurs in my peripheral vision. I didn't have any pain at the time but went to the nurse anyway. About 20 or 30 minutes after they went away the pain came. I couldn't look at any light, sound destroyed my ears and I felt like I could throw up at any second. I remember sitting on some stairs outside (after the nurse gave me some Gatorade and told me to leave, that whore) with my head in my lap, waiting to die.

Good news is I haven't had one since :)

Every few months, I'd say 8 or 9 months, I'll have my eyes get images like that where I can barely see. It'd be like if I stared directly into the sun for 30 seconds. Or maybe like you were in a dark room and went into bright light. It lasts 3 or 4 minutes I'd say. I never thought about a proper term for it or anything.
I don't know if that's the same.

I had these (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cluster_headache)

Thank god they went away in 2006 and never came back. all I could do is put my hand on my head. it also made my eye droop on one side when they would come on. no cure and could last for 45 years. I would rather kill myself than have to deal with that shit.

The last time I had a headache I rubbed it a little faster until the pressure was relieved. Problem solved.

I saw a guy on TV that treated his cluster headaches by taking shrooms. Maybe you should try it?

There is no pain associated with these. Just some annoying shit going on in my field of vision.

Couldn't hurt to try though.

I wish I got these.

I get the aura+migraine. I'm normally out of commission for at least 1 day, probably 2. Still have small after effects on day 3 (head hurts if I sneeze).

Oh, shrooms would definitely alter your field of vision. :p
