This one's going to be a dogfight.

No dogfight here. Cheers will win out. Woof.

Did I miss round 5 somewhere? :hmmm:

Never mind, I found it. Odd, it was way down on the second page but 3 and 4 were on the front page.

Absolutely love Ray....such a realistic view of married life IMO.

Tough one once we got past #1.

#1 - Cheers. "Cliffy! Cliff, there's a gentleman over here that thinks you know absolutely nothing about photosynthesis."

#2 - It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. While they're not always top notch, their good shows are excellent.

#3 - In a real tough one, I'll go with Happy Days. You've got to like hanging out with Richie and Potsie and Ralph.

Didn't make the cut.

#4 - Everybody Loves Raymond. It's actually a decent show. It's just not among my favorites.

#5 - The Cosby Show. It's fine, but I never understood why it was such a big deal.

I voted for Cheers and Everybody Loves Raymond.

I never saw Sunny and the others aren't worthy of my round 2 vote.

Some heavyweights in that group.

Cannot stand Everybody Loves Raymond.

IMO glorified the idea of husband being the bumbling idiot with the wife in the background shaking her head. You see in commercials all the time.

Could you imagine the letters that would pour in if there was a show with the opposite?

I agree that that's an annoying and annoyingly widespread phenomenon. You probably have to go a few decades back to find the reverse (like I Love Lucy for example).

I thought of another candidate for the funniest sitcom scene ever.

Cheers and the squeaky shoes.

I think it was called Married With Children.

Raymond - probably the funniest show ever.
Cheers - Bar show...funny as hell.
Bill Cosby - Ground breaking show that was good for everyone.

suds79

I think it was called Married With Children.

Probably about as close as it came.

Still, Peggy was goofy right along with Al. I'm talking about a show where essentially the husband acts like Debra, and the wife is like Raymond. That would be rich.

Happy Days was my third choice.

This is a good heat. I think. That was said about another and some people loved it others hated it. Still Cheers will probably be a finalist if not win the whole damn thing.

If they got rid of Rhea Pearlmans husband and the chick...it might make someone, somewhere chuckle...otherwise it's crap

Sunny needs more love.I agree. It's a killer heat. Sunny should move on, no questions asked. Of course, so should Cosby, Cheers, and Happy Days could make an argument.

Raymond is one of the worst shows on television.

Damn dude, frank and Dee are awesome. The whole cast is right up there with cheers.

In fact its like a deranged cheers really

Netflix has all the seasons of Cosby Show in case anyone was wondering. Watched a few episodes last week, still absolutely hilarious.

How are you determining which shows go into which heats? It seems like some heats, like this one, have a large amount of quality shows, but other heats just suck ass. Seems like the top tier comedies are all in the same heats duking it out, thus allowing some mediocrity to sift in via the other heats.

The Cosby Show was filmed before a live studio audience.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. It's totally unfair that Always Sunny is going out this early. Why couldn't that show go up against McHale's Navy, Spin City, Good Times, etc.?

If it can't beat Cheers now, then how is it going to beat Cheers, Taxi, WKRP, MASH, etc. in the later rounds?

It may suck now, but in the end matters little.

I am using the magic of random selection. It does seem like we've got some weaker heats and some brutal heats so far in the second round, but then again that's just my opinion. Apparently some people don't think that Always Sunny is a top-ten show, so they may be thinking that the Mr. Ed/Designing Women matchup was brutal.

As Marty Schottenheimer once said, "If you want to be the best, you've got to beat the best." So if you're a show and you draw a rough heat, then you better buck it up and be funny.

If I was a betting man that's the way I'd go. But there are a lot of heavyweights between now and the crown, and it's becoming apparent that we have a diversity of opinions.

Shutting down. Cheers continues doing its Normzilla in Tokyo impression, and The Cosby Show and Happy Days get sucked along in its wake.

Due to some sort of clerical error, Always Sunny is out. That's the only possible explanation.
