View Full Version : Chiefs Predict 2012 Chiefs QB depth chart.

I am bored, and since this franchise is as stagnant as a fart in hot steamy shower...I wanted to ask this.

I know we have no idea who will be on the coaching staff next season. We have no idea what is going to happen to Peyton. But given what you know RIGHT NOW...

What do you think the Chiefs QB depth chart will look like for the 2012-13 season? Not what you WANT it to look like...but what do you think Pioli will do.

Go on record now.

My prediction...we don't draft a QB...rather go through free agency.

jesus fucking christ. It's going to be Cassel and only Cassel. Pioli won't want another QB on the team to threaten Cassel's hold on the QB position after 1/2 a year out of football. HE CAN"T HANDLE THE STRESS OF COMPETITION!

We are fucked. It is all doom and gloom! Pioli must have incrimnating videos (he surely bugged Hunts private suite at the stadium) that allow him to be GM for life!!!!!

Still practicing the bad guy - is it getting better? I have to find more threads to post shit like this.

Cassel(preliminary basis), Stanzi , draft pick

“We’ve been saying it for three years, and I’m going to continue to say it, because it’s a core part of our philosophy: There will be increased competition at every position, including the quarterback position,” Pioli said. “Who that is, I don’t know. Maybe it’s Kyle (Orton), maybe it’s another free agent, maybe it’s a draft choice, I don’t know.

Maybe, but I was thinking more along the lines of Kellen Moore or another QB overlooked in the draft. Moore's size will put him low in the draft if he makes it at all. I don't think Pioli will care about that and give him a shot.

I do, and the vet will be another pushover because any decent vet wouldn't come here because they would outshine Cassel and then they'd d still be the backup.

Kyle Orton Could Have Another Suitor In Free Agency
by Joel Thorman on Feb 3, 2012 1:21 PM CST

The Kansas City Chiefs, whether it's head coach Romeo Crennel or GM Scott Pioli, have indicated that they will talk to free-agent-to-be Kyle Orton about coming back to Kansas City. They've both cautioned that "it takes two to marry", which could be a sign Orton is unlikely to come back, but they're at least going to talk to him.

After Orton's solid performance in his three-game stint as the Chiefs starter, we figured other teams would be interested in him as well.

And news comes down today that at least one team could be interested in him.

NFL Network's Michael Lombardi, speaking on Bill Simmons' podcast, said that the buzz down at the Senior Bowl was that the Washington Redskins were going to show some interest in Orton.

Clark Hunt talked with 810 WHB's Border Patrol this morning and said the Chiefs won't hesitate at the cost of acquiring a player in free agency (or, for you Brandon Carr and Dwayne Bowe fans, the cost of keeping their own players).

But just because they're willing to spend the cash doesn't necessarily mean it's the right move for Orton. I'd very much like to have Orton back in KC but he would, at a minimum, be facing a quarterback competition against Matt Cassel. In Washington, he would instantly be the best quarterback on the roster (depending on what happens in the draft).

So, we'll see what happens. But if there's competition for Orton, I think that means he's less likely to be in KC.

We just need the Skins to take Orton, Miami to take Manning , and Flynn to go to the Browns.

I agree no vet that has any talent would come here. This is why my prediction is that the Chiefs will sign Derrek Anderson as the vet back up.

Thats why I said we need the Browns to take a flyer on Flynn.

Missed that last part. But, they wont.

He's either going to Washington or Cleveland. The only reason Washington is being linked to other QBs is in case they can't make a move to trade up or Cleveland makes a better offer. These other QBs linked to Washington are plans B, C, D, etc...

Unless you truly want to believe Shanahan likes a 36 year Manning and Kyle Orton over RG3, who fits his style to a T.

O.city
02-03-2012, 03:24 PM
I think the Skins will likely take a free agent guy. They don't really have the ammo to move up to get RGIII.

I'd like to know what it will take to get up to that spot to draft the guy. Ive pretty much figured out that we won't be interested but I'd still like to know.

jd1020
02-03-2012, 03:27 PM
What makes you believe the Skins don't have the "ammo" to move up?

They have the #6 pick in the draft with a full compliment of later round draft picks including 2 #4's.

Meant to say they don't have the ammo that the Browns do to get that pick, with the 2 first round picks.

If the Chiefs do not move up in the draft...and the way the FA and draft prospects are panning out; Orton is probably going to end up being the best option as a starter next season.

Lets assume the Chiefs signed Manning at 10mil just for 1 year. And everyone that bought a Manning jersey bought an authentic jersey at $150 a pop. The Chiefs would have to sell 66667 jerseys to get their money back. Thats with 100% of the money from sales going into their pocket.

Dude I was being sarcastic. Calm the **** down.

If the Chiefs signed Manning, ticket sales woudl increase, chiefs gear including Manning jerseys would jump, and they would get more media coverage than they have in a while leading to more money.

They aren't making enough to pay his salary but they would make alot of money that they wouldn't make by keeping Cassel.

Weis is a selling point to the sheep that still believe that Weis had something to do with Matt Cassel's pro bowl season.

Pioli can sell Quinn to the sheep as competition, because he's a former first rounder, which means he must have talent, he's familiar with DaBoll's system, and he played for Weis.

Why is everyone worried about QB?

According to a lot of people on this thread Cassel had a good year 2 years ago because of Charles. Charles will be back this year which means Cassel can pick off where he was in 2010. With Baldwin and Breaston on the roster, and a better D, Cassel should be much improved on his 27 TDs and 7 Ints. Henne, Campbell and Orton can't put up numbers like that.

They've gotta be big on Stanzi or in on something that is really quiet with regards to a qb.

There is no way we run Cassel out there again.

All three of those thoughts sound nice. Not sure how realistic.

There's no way we DON'T run Cassel out there again.

And again.

And again.

Rinse and repeat.

I dont know if you guys live here in KC, but it's getting a little ugly in regards to Cassel and the front office.

Even true fans are getting pretty upset.

Something has to happen, one way or another.

I would be surprised if the Chiefs had any interest in either Henne or Derek Anderson.

I would assume that Pioli and Weis still talk, especially now that Weis is in Kansas, and that Pioli will sign Brady Quinn on the advice of Weis, and Quinn jumps at the chance to "compete".

How about a cactus ass-rape? I can only assume that Pioli got this awful idea from you.

There were different reports of Brady Quinn being on the KU campus last week and working with Charlie Weis. Maybe that was all just part of the master plan.
