View Full Version : Chiefs Other potential Raiders cuts...

Reading on ESPN rumors that the Raiders are still 11 mil over the cap, and that other cuts are likely coming before free agency starts.

Players speculated to be on the chopping block:

Kamerion Wimbley (11 mil cap hit)

Aaron Curry (5.75 mil)

Michael Huff (9.8 mil)

Tommy Kelly (6 mil)

John Henderson (4 mil)

I'd be really, really excited to see Kamerion Wimbley in a Chiefs jersey. He's from Kansas and was drafted by Crennel in Cleveland (11 sacks as a rookie).

His last two years in Oakland he's had 7 and 9 sacks. I think he could be an excellent addition to a defense that needs more pressure on the QB.

Wouldn't mind seeing Michael Huff take John McGraw's place, either. As much as I despise the Raiders, I do think they've had a surplus of talent on the defensive side. I wouldn't mind pilfering from their stores this offseason. Strengthen your team while weakening your enemy's...I like it.

Wimbley would be pretty damn awesome with this team. Hali, Houston, Wimbley would be one scary ass trio.

As much as I hate the Raiders, they would bring some nastiness to the defense.

Wimbley is a physical just nasty dude. I'd love it.

Raidersification of the Chiefs

I like to think of it as the de-talentization of the Raiders.

I'm really hoping the Crennel connection brings Wimbley here, assuming he is let go. The more pressure we get on the QB, the less it will hurt to lose Brandon Carr.

What would Wimbley play here though? Is he an OLB?

If it came down to it and he would take it, I'd rather give Gilberry's money to Wimbley and bring in another DE.

If we can get a stout, line controlling NT, the entire defense will get faster and better.

I wonder if we could sign Huff, and Routt for what Carr gets.
Huff and Lewis would just set the FS spot the fuck off.

If the Giants showed us something, you can never have to many pass rushers.

Maybe we are gonna go all free agency on defense and draft on offense?

I don't know about you guys but Routt and Griffin at the same price that Carr woudl cost is interesting.

Those two, Soliai, would make this defense pretty crazy good.

Hell throw Wimbley in there too if you want. I'm taking all the Raiders.

Curry actually looked decent with them.

They might as well cut Palmer while they're at it. He was Hue's guy anyways haha.

Did anyone notice that Houston started using his hands the way Tamba has perfected to get by Ts later in the season last year. Hali seems like the kind of guy that would have Zero problem helping a younger player out.
Houston is going to be an absolute BEAST. I'm almost sure of it.
But like someone said about the Giants, it can never hurt to stack the roster with pass rushers.

O.city
02-21-2012, 08:39 PM
I agree, but you can never have too many pass rushers. You could go sets where you have 2 down lineman in Jackson and Bailey, with all three of those guys out there.

IDK, how does NY make JPP, Osi, and Tuck work? You put them in the game and send their ass after the QB.

I wouldn't mind being able to rotate three to get Hali some rest. He would be more effective if he could stay fresh.

they run a 4-3 and use jpp on the line

It's exactly what the 9ers did at times this year.

You could have a defensive alignment along the lines of...

Hali-Wimbley Johnson Houston
Bailey Jackson

Use a base nickel package on the backend.

My diagram looked better when I typed it.

We don't know because he's never done it that I am aware of. He probably could cause some problems. But if you saw some of the pass rush situations we used in preseason with Hali and Sheffield both standing up on the weak side, we could use something like that.

O.city
02-21-2012, 08:45 PM
No but the 9ers will have too in a few years when Aldon comes contract up. He was just a pass rusher this year.

No way will Wimbley make what he made in oakland.

O.city
02-21-2012, 08:46 PM
I know you start 11 guys on both sides, but you essentially play about 18 or 19 with subpackages.

I only want Wimbley if he comes at the right price though.

Wimbley money > Gilberry money

That guy should get pretty good coin out there.
He's still very productive.

I'd love to have him, but there's only so much money to go around.
