He has great potential, but that is a pretty hefty TE contract.

It's about 5 million more altogether for 2 years than what it would of cost them to franchise him for one year, and with less cap space being ate up for this year.

The Packers would of lost the challenge on if he should of been tagged as a Tight End or receiver, as he lined up as a receiver too much.

I'd say the Packers came out ahead in the end, and can now use the tag to make sure Scott Wells doesn't bolt.
