View Full Version : Life What car would you love to own?

Make it something realistic, everyone would love to own a Lambo or Ferrari I am sure, but make it something attainable (I guess that's subjective, because I'm sure there are some here who could afford a Lambo or Ferrari). Anyways, I have always liked the BMW M3's. If I could buy a car to drive on nice days and go get ice cream in, I would buy a 2008 BMW M3 Convertible, sweet glory those are some sick cars. It's a car that has the utmost luxury, but is very powerful and fast, nothing grips the road like an M3. I'm not a huge BMW fan, but I do love me some M3! I found a used one for the low price of $55k LMAO. Maybe someday when I hit the lottery.

What about you bloke's, any car you would love to get? New camaro, Shelby GT500?

I always wanted to have a Corvette, what says American muscle better? Anyways, seeing as I am 6'6 280lbs, no way I want to get in and out of one of those rascals every time I drive it.

I take part in an annual charity car rally called the DFW Toy Run. It's a lot of fun and all of the exotic cars show up (Lambos, Ferarris, Maseratis, Porches, Lotuses, etc...). Anyway, last year a guy in a souped up Volkswagen Bus showed up. He actually kept up with everyone on the highway portion of the run, although he obviously fell behind when we moved to some curvy country roads...but it was still pretty cool.

About as simple as a car can get. The Fiberglass bodies require some patience though, as we have to let them sit out in the hot sun for at least a week or two once we THINK the body work is complete to make sure the glass has stopped moving.

But as far as the drive train goes, most of them are usually carb'd small block Fords. The Body just lifts right off the Chassis, suspension is pretty damn basic.

Any of the stuff I'd really like to own, exotic iron, I can't drive.

So...I'm pretty happy currently. The car in the garage is my '70 Charger R/T SE. It's an original 440-4 car with the #'s drivetrain stored in the garage. I've built it as my dream car.

Factory plum crazy purple, check.
MP crate 472 Hemi motor, 550 HP & ft. lbs. torque @ the torque convertor, check.
Gear Vendors backed automatic, check.
Stereo that bounces both doors' rear view mirrors, check.

Believe it or not, the daily driver (actually the wife drives it) is another dream ride. I was absolutely giddy when they came out with the club cab SRT 10 cause it only came with an automatic. We almost bought a new one but held off worried about end of year taxes. Good call as we owed a bunch.

Fast forward to the end of this last summer. The wife totaled our '03 Sport Hemi Ram. It had been paid for, for a couple years now. First new rig we bought & paid in full for.

Stars aligned just right, dealership had a used '05 SRT 10 with 52k miles, even the same color as the totaled truck.

If we won the lottery, my wife would prolly get a Mustang 'vert or since we'd have money a Challenger that'd been converted since they're not gonna make one.

At one time I wanted to rotisserie one. One needing engine bay painting or motor cleaned & painted, extreme detailing, minor interior work is about as much as I can do nowadays.

Plus in today's market, if you don't do all the work yourself you're in for a real ass reaming if you ever decide to sell.

You see it a lot. People asking '06 prices cause that's how much they're into them.

as for me, I would like to build mine. Granted, with a Rat Rod, they're not really meant to look pretty, so that helps. :D

I've heard many-a-rat rod are built on S-10 pickup frames; and obviously, the bodys don't have to be pristine etc so they could be had relatively cheap. Wheels as well. Crate motor would be reasonable for me as I wouldn't need a super HP motor; just something with a good thump to it.

The M3 is a GREAT car its not super lux or fast but a balance of everything. IMO the best M was the E46 you can get them for pretty cheap now.

Easily realistic:

The Chrysler Crossfire has a heckuva lot of style for a reasonable price. These cars are great looking. If they had come out a year or two earlier they would've been a serious contender for me, but I think they were not quite on the market the last time I bought a car.

Was it a flop? I really don't know. You'll never sell a whole lot of two-seaters since so many people like to drive around with an empty back seat, so I don't know what expectations are.

I only know one person who owns/owned one, and he loved it and had something like 180,000 miles on it. Obviously that's just one person, though.

Dad's got a 69 Camaro with a 350 in the shed that he never finished.

Probably the most realistic dream car for me. But I don't have the time or the money to finish it.

Most of the cars I want I'm not even close to. Probably a new Camaro, one of the new body style GTOs that were out a few years ago.

Why can't they have a reasonably affordable powerful car with a manual transmission? I'd really like to get something fun to drive. I guess I'll have to stick to my semi for a manual transmission with some power.
