I know we have a ton of threads, but lets make this short and sweet and just have a poll to see what the general consensus is at CP on the Manning/RG3 debate.

OK, it looks like the Chiefs are (hopefully) moving in a new direction at QB. There are two main guys everyone would want, Peyton Manning and Robert Griffin III. Getting either one of these guys has consequences: Getting Peyton Manning means that we will be passing on a QBOTF for a Hall of Fame QB that is on the downside of his career and may not be able to really throw the ball like he has in the past anymore due to nerve damage; on the flipside, Manning allows us to keep all of our draft picks and continue to build the team with young talent. On the other hand, getting RG3 means that we will FINALLY have our QB of the future-- he could be great or he could be a bust-- but one thing you know for sure is that you are going to be out of a lot of draft picks so that option for a couple of years at least is a moot point. It might take him a couple of years to develop into a star NFL QB so some of our top tier talent may be on the downside of thier career and no new young talent to fill thier gap.

So...

Who would you choose if we have the option for one or the other?

Peyton or RG3?

neither... Jeff George (he hasn't filed retirement papers with the NFL after all)

RG3 100x over Manning. It's not about talent. It's about developing our own guy and taking pride in building a team, not just acquiring mercenaries.

Probably because we were thinking the same thing at the same time. I can't type fast enough to have read his thread, type up mine, create a poll and post it within 2 minutes.

RGIII...The chiefs need a QBOTF, not a temporary bandaid.

Manning teaching Stanzi would be great as well.

I don't know but I really prefer developing a team to the alternative. I know a Superbowl win is a Superbowl win but I would have never really respected it if the modern era Redskins had won one after all the UFA spending sprees. Not that I'm anybody important or that it matters that much.

If we're not giving up draft picks, then RGIII. I would propose that a more interesting poll would be...

Manning + our 1st and 2nd this year and our 1st and 2nd next year

or

RGIII

That's really the question, isn't it?

The answer is obviously Manning.

Look, if we can land the completely unproven rookie for a reasonable cost (say a couple of first round picks, a second, and a lower pick), then hell yes, go for it...If it's going to cost two years of draft picks, go **** yourselves.

If we can sign one of the great QBs of our times for nothing but cash, abso-****ing-lutely!

Which is exactly while we'll probably pull out all the stops to get Manning. The Chiefs rarely ever do anything the way us fans believe they should.

I'd take RG3 over Manning any day. However, if we aren't going to make a serious play to trade up for RG3, then I'd take PM over anything else available. A crippled PM playing in a wheelchair would still be more effective than Mark Castle

He's damaged goods at a $20,000,000 cap hit. I mean, I'd take him over anything else we have but I'm not a huge advocate of going to get him.

Obviously I would not be in favor of him if he can't throw anymore, but I don't think the Chiefs or any other team would sign him without a full exam and body cavity search.

The problem is every team above that's QB needy can match or exceed the Chiefs pickwise. Not many teams have the cash freed up to sign Manning.

We need a QBOTF, not a QBOTNTY(QB of the next two years).

But also because if Manning hired gun'd us to a SB, it would feel a little cheap.

Crappy poll. The price for acquiring the two are dramatically different to the point that comparing the two is meaningless.

If by a little cheap you mean glorious I agree.

I voted RG3 because he'd be here for years but I'd be happy as hell to have Manning for the short term if that's the way it worked out.
