Well go Illinois State then!

Creighton is probably going to make it either way, if that's why you're rooting against them.

Buck
03-04-2012, 03:25 PM
Was just about to call the victory for Creighton, but Ill St. forced a turnover and got the lead down to 6 with 37.7 left. It will take a lot to come back from this, but we've all seen more unlikely things happen.

Tonight we have Detroit vs Valpariso for the Horizon Tourney Championship (Butler not going to lose the Championship game this year)

South Dakota State vs Western Illinois for the Summit League

Lastly North Texas vs Western Kentucky for the Sun Belt.

That last game is on ESPN2 right now and its 66-63 North Texas with less than 4 min to go.

I can't wait til I own your sig. We need to come to terms on how long it lasts.

I say until College Football Season begins next year, and that's opening kickoff of the opening game by ISU (for you) or SDSU (for me).

Buck

CRAZY sequence there.

North Texas down 2 with 27 sec to go. They have possession.

Buck

And some dude on North Texas just went full retard.

WKU looks to have this game if they can make free throws.

Buck

WOWOWOWOWOW

WKU MISSES THE FREE THROW BUT GETS THE REBOUND AND PUTS IT IN.

THEY'RE UP 4 AND WITH 4 SEC LEFT THEY FOUL A 3 PT SHOT BY NTU, PUTTING THEM AT THE LINE FOR 3.

WooHooo , Way to go Hilltoppers & Coach Ray Harper. Harper is a local guy from Greenville, KY, where I live that has has a successful NAIA & NCAA II Championship runs over his career.

He was named interm coach this year after joining the staff and WKU starting off @ 5 - 11, they now stand 15 - 18 and the team is really buying into his teachings.

Ray has been a big part of the community in his basketball coaching tree and local coaches in the school levels, he is a good coach that just needed a major college to take a chance on him.

WKU was 9-18 about two weeks ago. And that was in the Sun Belt.

They were horrible to start the year off, They have won 6 in a row now. We could see the team buying into in style of play and defense, they are turning the corner and will be a tougher than normal game for a # 1 or a # 2 out of the gate.

Don't expect anything from them, BTA, didn't expect this either, this year. But next year..... easily.

This guy just does things the right way, I have talked to him several times, seem many of his coaching clinics and if my grand son does not end up at KU, I would push him towards Ray any day of the week.

There aren't anymore championship games until Saturday, which means most of the conferences left are at least somewhat legit.

Other than the America East, SWAC, and the Southland, (and the Pac 12), the rest of the conferences have some pretty good teams.

My team lost the Championship Game tonight.

Shit sucks so fucking bad. I don't even care that we are making the tourney as an at-large bid. This will be the first time that SDSU makes it as an At-Large because they've always won their tournament. I never knew that not winning the conference tourney would suck more than making the tourney as an at-large would be good.

Yeah, I am not sure what to make of New Mexico State. They look like a team that could take a 4 or a 5 to the limit and just beat the shit out of them physically to the point that 48 hours later said team would be out of gas and lose badly.

Calling my shot now for #1 seeds: Aside from the obvious (Kentucky and Syracuse), UNC will be the 3rd #1 seed, and Kansas will be #1 in the West.

Its been trendy this afternoon for people to declare that the Big 10 champ will be a #1 and the Big 10 loser will be a #2, with Kansas and Mizzou both #2 seeds, but they are forgetting one very important thing: conference champs who are crowned right before the selection show don't get credit for it, unless they were a bad team who got the auto-bid.

Its why the Big 12 and lots of other conferences moved their championship game to Saturday, its now understood that if you play your last game on Sunday, you'll screw over your conference champ on seeding. (though conversely, whoever loses might not get hurt as bad, too) If the Big 10 championship game was yesterday, I can see it, but at this point its too late.

They may both be #2's, but I seriously doubt Missouri gets placed ahead of Kansas on the S-curve. I've seen some brackets where Missouri is right behind KU on the S-curve, but I haven't seen anyone put Missouri ahead of Kansas.

3 reasons: First, the last 10 games criteria has been greatly de-emphasized, to the point where the selection committee will no longer even see last 10 game records on their profile sheets. The message has been that November and December games will be judged to be exactly equal in importance as your last game. The conference tournament still matters, but not nearly as much as before, or so they say. Second, Mizzou and KU had the same conference schedule, and KU finished 2 games better. Finally, Mizzou's non-conference SOS is horrible, while KU's non-conference SOS is decent. If the Big 10 champ is not getting the last #1 seed, the committee will probably reward the better schedule.

After watching them I think they could be deserving.

Either give KU the #1 in the West or #2 against one of these teams and that is the best setup for the Hawks.

Yep, this has screwed KU many times in the past when the Big 12 played on Sunday.

But I could see them having decided yesterday after it was known that these two would be in the final that they could adjust something that gives the winner a number 1.

I don't know though. The committee doesn't get wrapped up in these tourneys all that much. They look at the whole body of work.

Can some stat geek please post the resumes of OSU, MSU, and KU?

oh by the way, should mention this now. If KU and Mizzou are both #2 seeds and Mizzou gets St. Louis, that does not mean they were ranked ahead of Kansas on the S-curve. KU is probably destined for Phoenix unless they somehow get ranked #3.

For #1 seeds, they go in order, 1st to 4th, giving strict preference to higher seeds, with 4th getting whatever is left. For #2 seeds, they are no longer concerned about being fair to the #5 team on the curve, they just go strictly on proximity to help the site sell more tickets. Mizzou is much closer to St. Louis than Kansas, so they get St. Louis, even if KU would have been #5 and Mizzou would have hypothetically been #8. Since KU will be closer to Phoenix than anyone else who might be on the 2-line, (and since they will be going West if they have the last #1) Kansas fans should probably start planning on going to the valley of the sun.

most years, no. This year, yes, easily. The 2012 bubble blew ass, so compared to the garbage heap, Texas was good enough.

They could fix this problem if they went to 128 teams!

Top 20 RPI
Top 20 SOS
Top 5 OOC SOS
5-6 vs. Top 50
7-1 vs. 51-100
26-8
Conference regular season champions
Conference tournament champions

... 8 seed.

At least the path is reasonably favorable. SLU and MSU will be tough, but there are worse alternatives.

At least MU gets UF in Omaha, which is a significant home court advantage.

Detroit's pretty good for a 15 seed. That's a tough draw for a 2, Horizon League Champ.

OH NOES BELMONT IS IN THE SAME BRACKET AS KU.

They're Seth Davis' sleeper team, so they'll lose in the first round.

I have to tentatively agree, KU's half of the bracket doesn't look intimidating
