WTF is this guy all about.

A week later, on October 13, ICC Chief Prosecutor Luis Moreno Ocampo released details on Kony's indictment. There are 33 charges, 12 counts are crimes against humanity, which include murder, enslavement, sexual enslavement and rape. There are another 21 counts of war crimes which include murder, cruel treatment of civilians, intentionally directing an attack against a civilian population, pillaging, inducing rape, and forced enlisting of children into the rebel ranks. Ocampo said that "Kony was abducting girls to offer them as rewards to his commanders."

In March 2012, U.S.-based campaign group and not-for-profit Invisible Children Inc released a short film promoting awareness of Kony and his actions and encouraging supporters to donate to their cause.[19] Intended to go viral on social networks, particularly Facebook, within 48 hours news media had described it as having succeeded in that aim;[19] on Facebook, it has received over 3 million shares, exceeding Invisible Children's target of 500,000.[20] The film, Kony 2012, currently has over 5.1 million views on Vimeo,[21] and 400 thousand views on social media site YouTube,[22] with other viewing emanating from a central "Kony2012" website operated by Invisible Children.

Yes. This is blowing up on social media right now. Woke up to tons of these in my feed. Kony is one of the main people responsible for child soldiers and "invisible children."

The OP might want to add this into the OP:

We already are (from wiki):

In May 2010, U.S. President Barack Obama signed into law the Lord's Resistance Army Disarmament and Northern Uganda Recovery Act,[16] legislation aimed at stopping Kony and the LRA. The bill passed unanimously in the Senate on March 11, 2010 with 65 senators as cosponsors, then passed unanimously in the House of Representatives on May 13, 2010 with 202 representatives as cosponsors.

In November 2010, Obama delivered a strategy document to Congress, asking for more money to disarm Kony and the LRA.[17]

In October 2011, Obama authorized the deployment of approximately 100 combat-equipped U.S. troops to central Africa.[18] They will help regional forces “remove from the battlefield” Joseph Kony and senior LRA leaders. "Although the U.S. forces are combat-equipped, they will only be providing information, advice, and assistance to partner nation forces, and they will not themselves engage LRA forces unless necessary for self-defense," Obama said in a letter to Congress.

Interesting. If you have ever seen movies such as Blood Diamond or Attack On Darfur and have been outraged, disgusted, and saddened by the atrocities depicted but felt there is nothing you can do, this may finally be something each of us can do.

Thanks for the video. I saw this on twitter and dismissed it at first. Very well done.

Question is...how many people signed up and are donating? I, for one, did. And while the "purpose" is to remove someone awful from a position of power, my purpose for donating is to see if a social media movement like this can truly have generate change in foreign policy and politics in general.

I'd be interested to know how many of those 9 million have donated in some way. This will be a fascinating study in whether people can really bring upon change or not.

That is what makes this interesting. Not saying it will have an epic change, but it will show if social media can be used to change things and give people without a voice a power.

I don't see how this gets stopped at this point. Using the power Justin Bieber did to help the world, not a bad idea.

You guys do know that this whole Kony thing has been govt backed to get the public on board w/ an invasion with Africa to drive out the Chinese right?

That video is designed to make you think about the children to play with your emotions, so that you make irrational decisions, then they get a bunch of Hollywood liberal ****tards on board with it to get the sheeple involved. Kony hasn't been seen in years, and he's one of the hundreds of warlords in that area that kidnap children and make them their slaves etc.

Phoney 2012.

You can't write this shit...

http://www.ksdk.com/news/article/310617/28/Invisible-Children-co-founder-arrested-for-public-drunkenness

Jason Russell, one of the co-founders of Invisible Children, makers of last week's viral Kony 2012 video, was detained in Pacific Beach, Calif., on Thursday for being drunk in public and masturbating, according to the San Diego Police Department

NBCSanDiego.com (http://www.nbcsandiego.com/news/local/jason-russell-san-diego-invisible-children-kony-2012-142970255.html) is reporting that Russell, 33, was found masturbating in public, vandalizing cars and possibly under the influence of something, according to Lt. Andra Brown, who said Russell was acting very strange.
Police said they received several calls at 11:30 a.m. of a man in various stages of undress, running through traffic and screaming. Police described him as "in his underwear."

NBC News reports that Russell was taken into custody, then taken to a local medical facility.

Russell is one of the founders responsible for the Kony 2012 video that went viral last week. He is described on the organization's website as a co-founder and "our grand storyteller and dreamer."

Invisible Children's CEO Ben Keesey released a statement, according to NBC, saying: "Jason Russell was unfortunately hospitalized yesterday suffering from exhaustion, dehydration, and malnutrition. He is now receiving medical care and is focused on getting better. The past two weeks have taken a severe emotional toll on all of us, Jason especially, and that toll manifested itself in an unfortunate incident yesterday. Jason's passion and his work have done so much to help so many, and we are devastated to see him dealing with this personal health issue. We will always love and support Jason, and we ask that you give his entire family privacy during this difficult time."
